Sprungster 5 Report post Posted July 13, 2008 So this year, some of the All Stars from previous Team USAs weren't available, and the places got filled with new faces, and the superstars who did show up as usual. The team was basically a ground up with a new coach (Sprungster, Joe Noris) and everything in the air until just before Philly. The view of the outcome was not pretty. One of the Stalwarts said of all the USA Teams he's been on (MANY), this one had the least chance of doing anything at all. But, with strange new things to do on the rink and outstandingly shocking execution, they made it to the finals where they beat Canada, then Switzerland, and finally France for the Gold. CJ Yoder was the best player in the World. Besides the shocked faces, Joe noticed that Germany and France (and all Europe for that matter), are experiencing real, healthy roller hockey growth. Two other Tip-Top world players, both Czech, went away with new setups to replace their old models they've been on for three years, now. I'm not sure yet, but I think some Kors and Torspos.I won't go so far as to say this was like the US winning the Olympics with college players way back when, but the odds were very similar. Congratulations guys! :) :) :)
nummer55 10 Report post Posted July 13, 2008 They didn't start very convincing, but in that final they totally outplayed France. I saw Joe pulling some Sprungs out of his bag trying to convince some Germans. Really nice tournament.

Only thing is when I looked at the roster and agree there are many new faces but I don’t think their was a lack of talent. Since many of them are still nARCH pro players, lindenwood players, and/or PIHA standouts in their division.

Regardless of any and all of that, the underdog team that went surprised everyone, including themselves, and made it through to the finals and won the Gold. There were ten tons of most excellent players and coaches there, and only one coach and team gets the bacon. Joe Noris and Team USA were the lucky ones. Coach/Team Magic. WhiskeyTango19 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2008 I loved playing with Stahl. Playing D my job was simple: take the puck away from the opposing forward, make a breakout pass to Tommy, and sit back and watch the magic.I was never disappointed.
