Visor newbie.

This year will be my first year wearing a visor because i am entering my first year of jr. hockey. Is there any favourite visors or types which are better then others. I will be buying a new one in the next 2 weeks. following the purchase of a mouthguard.

From my experience, i find Itech and Oakley to be the best.

It is personal preference on the amount of facial coverage you want.

I'm not aware of the rules regarding posting links to stores. But there are a few very good online stores that sell a wide variety of visors, in different cuts, and different colors.

I used the Oakley 2.0, and it is very nice, no distortion. And has a decent amount of protection.

Oakley Aviator is another good one.

Again it is personal preference on cut and amount of facial coverage. But those two for half visors, IMO, can't get much better.

Oakley 2.0

Oakley Aviator

Itech DX 100 Delux

Itech HLC Delux (Doesn't Malkin use this one?)

I haven't had that much problem with fog, but then again, i never played in juniors with a packed arena of a couple thousand people lol.

The newer visors come with antifog coating and anti scratch coating factory applied.

But i guess it couldn't hurt to have some defog on the bench just in case. EDIT TO ADD: and a cloth!

There are also a variety of antifog sprays. Nike Bauer, Itech, Oakley, Pro Guard.

I'm glad i could help, good luck in junior!

If you choose to get an Oakley however, there is only one type of defogger you can get becuse It will crystalize your visor(or that is what I am told)

I've been wearing a visor for about a year, I only played high school but the coaches let us wear them at practice and such. I bought an Oakley aviator, the pro modified one, and I just sold it to a friend because I didn't like curve. I just bought the Under Armor one from sportsauthority.com, they have them on sale for like $60, and I love it. The only problem I found was that it didn't fit on my RBK 8K. But I am using a NikeBauer 5500 with it and it fits perfectly.

I'm wearing a Hejduk visor, very similar to the HS22 straight cut. I rub on shower gel before every ice time and the thing never ever fogs up, even 1.5 hour sessions.

I think my next purchase will be the HS22 to give that a try though.

Make sure you check the league rules for visors- I know my league requires certified visors only, so no Oakley Pro Straights.

Most junior leagues require certified visors - I know all the CHL leagues do and I believe the Tier 2 Junior A leagues in Canada do as well. I also believe the USHL, NAHL, and EJHL all require certified visros.

I believe that you're right on the USHL/NAHL having to have certified visors, but no one wears 'um. I've seen pro straights all over.

Chad, in the OPJHL if you're going to wear a visor pretty much everyone wears an itech x100/dx100. They require that style of visor.

pretty much every jr A league in canada most of the players wear them as they are usually supplied by the team.

Go for the Itech X100:

There's 2 models the X100 and the X100 Deluxe (displayed), the only difference is that the deluxe supposedly has a scratch resistant coating.
