Vapor xxxx fitting question

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I went to my LHS and tried on a pair of vapor 40 skates in sizes 8.5D and 9D.

8.5D: great fit in width, but too short in length (toes curled)

9 D: long enough (toes barely touching caps) but seem too wide.

I am considering going the custom route. I would like to have a skate that fits like my old vapor xx skates in size 9.5D.

Since NBH changed the fit, I can't find a pair with a similar fit, that has also a flat sole (I can't wear skates with a high arch = pain).

Question: As anyone experienced this issue? (going from a vapor xx or xxx to a xxxx)? How did you solve it?

Also when trying on a new skate, is it normal to have to tighten the skate very tight to feel snug? also should the skate fell like a suction cup on your foot (especially on heel)?

Thanks in advance!!!

My advice...go custom.

We can sit here all day and talk about your foot...but we don't know it like you do. After going custom, I will never go retail boot again.

If the 8.5 fits in width...why not get it stretched?

I was told the most you could get in length is a 1/4 of an inch. With today's new materials it's much harder to perform without exploding the boot.

Stretching is more common with width I believe. Please correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

Thanks!

I was told you could go up a full size. Haha, maybe I'm wrong, that's just what I've been told about it.
