Edge Jerseys: Real Vs. Fake

Recommended Posts

http://cgi.ebay.com/OVECHKIN-CAPITALS-NHL-...1QQcmdZViewItem

Yesterday i bought an Alexander oveckin jersey as pictured in the link. Whether its real or not, for $66 im happy none the less. Assuming that this is a fake, and not made of the edge material, or it is simply just a replica (the seller never claimed it was an edge jersey, so its nothing dirty on his part), how can you tell what makes it an authentic vs fake/replica/knock off. I thought the difference between replicas, and real edge jerseys was the material, stiching (replicas are iron on's?), and fighting straps. This one had two of the three so i figured maybe i would surprise myself if it did turn out this was an edge jersey.

What does edge material feel like (silky like underarmor?)

Thanks aton

It's fake.

The Reebok Vector logo is the dead giveaway. Also, the lettering is okay, but the "A" patch isn't the same as what is on the authentic. There's a lot of these knockoffs floating around, would love to know where they're getting the tags.

Yea the tags were tempting too....ahh for 66 bucks a replica jesey would have ran me the same thing.

Say, you know what material the knockoffs are made of? Probably polyester?

Also just for future reference, what about the Vector logo gave away that it was a knock off? I looked around comparing logos on the real ones to the one in the link and my untrained eyes couldnt pick up on it.

There is a store in town selling something that looks like that for $100. The inside neck tag is RBK/CCM...with an NHL logo. The tags on the sleeves are all RBK...legit looking tags. They don't have the Jock Tags in the font, have Fight straps and feel lighter than normal jerseys...but not the same as the EDGE socks I have...All stiched 3 layer twill letters/numbers...I figured they were legit RBK jerseys. Some kind of Replithentic...*L* But this makes me re-think it.

He had:

Luongo

Koivu (which I almsot bought)

Ovey

Malkin (Winter Classic that had a Game Worm tag...like a Meigray on the inside of the lower hem...he wants $119 for it )

Sundin

Crosby

Someone from Detroit (Zetterberg I think)

He said they come from a guy in Mississauga.

They may be knock offs...but they look DAMN good in person.

The 1's on this Price jersey and the name font definitely look wrong...(same seller as OP)

I got mine for 66, so like i said, its no big loss.

I bet the ones you saw and the guy i bought from have some connection because they are selling the same players lol.

That's the guy on Facebook.

His lettering is off. For instance, I saw the Crosby WC one in person - the jersey looked good (wasn't EDGE), but the lettering and the crest colors were off.

And if you want further proof - check out the lettering on this bad boy...

I saw his baseball ones and they're even worse.

On the real ones, I believe the entire Reebok Vector logo is embroidered - not just the outline.

Not only that, but look at the live action picture and the jersey. That should give you an indication on how big the logo is on the real jersey.

Load the Caps jersey, back shot and zoom in.

China is great at copying things, right down to tags....assuming that's where they are coming from. I can't believe some of the stuff I see.

Curious to know if they have the NHL hologram tag.

Eh, I personally wouldn't buy it. That's just me.

Ethically or just for fear of getting ripped off?

That's the guy on Facebook.

The ebayer or the guy in Miss.

I thought the facebook guy was in London Ontario.

Ethically. I like owning the real deal.

Guess it's not the same guy, but I guess these guys must franchise out or something.

Next time I'm at the rink (and the Shop is open) I'll check and see if these have a holo on them. Would it be on the sleeve tags? Or, is it a separate tag.

Wow, the guy has them in a rink store?

I've seen guys selling them on ebay as cheap as $35-40 bucks...for that little I might still buy one. But, knowing it's a knock off...I wouldn't pay what some guys are asking. We know what to look for now at least.

I'm gonna guess this one is fake as well

Can't tell about the Rbk logo, but the A is completely off on the front. Also, I see what automorph meant about the nylon being wrinkly and shiny.

They are pretty ballsy...they give you an awful lot of closeups to find the faults.

I suspect they are using a real one for pics.........that one looks good, cresting looks like twill

The zetterburg pic above is nylon.........

Well at least with this guy you get a money back return, so if it is fake, and you dont want it you at least you arent stuck with it. But that looks legit no? The letters arent shiny, but then again you cant get a good look of the RBK vector.

i dont want to mince words but its a "high quality" replica i guess. Its almost authentic minus some details.
