Computer's sound screwed up

Recommended Posts

Hey lately my computer has been screwing up in the sound department. i can't really search on google because i can't even really describe how it sounds. it's almost like at the begining of Iron Man when he goes "i am iron maaaaaannn". except everything sounds "choppy" like that. when i try to play songs in itunes they play in fast forward. and even the sounds the computer makes signing on (like the little doodaloo) is choppy. i have to restart my computer more and more often now. does anyone know what this might be? sorry if i didn't explain it properly.

I would try uninstalling the sound card then reinstalling. Also, is there a chance it could be your speakers? You may want to try a different set of speakers before doing anything.

Few basic computer specs might help.

i know little about computers, how do i bring up the specs?

Start >> Control Panel >> System and the specs are on the General Tab.

If you aren't really computer literate, you may not be able to answer this, but do you have an onboard sound card? Either way, that system sounds like it should be able to run without problems.

I have a sound card at work that locks up liek that from time to time...reboot usually fixes it.

Have you made any additions to the machine, added software or hardware that may be affecting the sound card operation?

Check the speakers!

While there is a chance it could be the speakers, it is much more unlikely. About the only way that the speakers would be the cause of the problem is if the cable is cracked and if the was the case, there would be longer amounts of silence rather than a more on/off effect that has been described.

@lampliter87, since he said that it's happening when he turns the computer on as well, it would be rather unlikely that, that would have much of an effect.

RadioGaGa seems to be on it the most at this stage.
