Peca suspended?

Columbus Dispatch is reporting that Jackets center Mike Peca is suspended indefinitely (20+ games) for "physical abuse of an official." Anyone see the game/ know any more about this? http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sport...ca.html?sid=101

CBC was talking about it but didn't have video either...they expected more like 10 games.

Drew and I were at the game...we didnt catch what it was. I thought he was going off for an injury or equipment....then they announced it. Weird...

and "the infraction" happens right after. The video kinda sucks but all I could find.

An official should be untouchable. I feel bad for those guys they are hated by one side's fans everynight. But I still think 10 games is a bit much.

10-20 games for that? I didn't even see anything to be honest. Might be the video, might be because nothing happened.

I do also agree though that officials should be untouchable. For something like that though, 1 game is more than enough if suspension is how they want to punish him and not by fines.

I agree that seems extreme, but the League has to protect the Refs. Someone like Peca may not grab him hard to hit him hard, but someone like Avery or Hollweg or Brashear decides to go off on a ref, they may not go easy. They have to hit the player hard for mistreating a ref.

Should a players history come into play? Someone like Peca who is usually pretty classy vs someone like Avery or Hollweg or Simon who might have more of a history?

It isn't too often that you hear the words "Peca" and "classy" in the same sentence. I guess someone forgot about Peca's habit of hitting low.

If Peca gets 10 games for that, the ref should get 10 games for missing the call in the first place.
