Chicago Area Roller Hockey...

Recommended Posts

So I know I asked this a long while ago but I couldn't find the post and if I recall there wasn't a lot of roller detail. I just moved back to Chicago and was going put my free agent application in to Johnny's Ice House, as it's pretty much the only Ice available in the city that I know of. Turns out, their rosters lock on the 15th (...2 days) and then their Spring season starts in Feb...

So, I'm going to hold off on that, but was wondering if anyone had a good understanding of what Roller may be available in the city or, hell, even the suburbs, what would be worth looking into? Just need something weekly to keep me going.

Thanks.

The Megaplex in Homer Glen/Lockport is really the only place roller is played at in the southwest suburbs. I haven't seen the talent of the mens league there this session though. Up north im not to familiar with the roller scene, There is guys on here that know more about the City/Northside area than I do.

I know Lagrange Park and Naperville (West Suburbs) both have a couple roller hockey rinks/leagues. Not too sure on the details though since I don't play roller, I just know about them cause they freeze them in the winter. Do a Google search or check out Naperville and Lagrange Park's Park District website and you should find what you need.

I'm going to resurrect this thread as it's over 2 years old. After not being able to find consistent roller hockey in the city that meshed with my schedule, I bowed out and haven't played in a while. I'm interested in starting to play again and, since there's been a ton of community growth and an influx of members since I posted this, I'm giving it another whirl:

Inline in Chicago, who's got some suggestions?

I am interested as well. I am actually in Milwaukee, but frequent the IL area a lot and may be interested in some weekend pick-up or something...

I was down there for State Wars in August so I know that there was a rink a few of the August 6th-8th games were moved too that has year-round sport court roller hockey. Can't remember the name though...

I would mainly be interested in north side stuff...

The only place that I know of is Hat Trick Hockey up in Palatine. I haven't been there myself yet but I plan on getting up there over winter break. My friend has played in a couple leagues up there, good range of skill level. Rat hockey generally has a good mix of skill level from what I've heard. If you want to play some outdoor there are a few rinks around. Woodridge has one in Jane's Ave. park, it was just resurfaced this summer and is pretty nice, boards but no glass. Usually people are playing some pick up but I'm not sure about now. It is lit too and is usually on until 10. Another outdoor rink is just off the the Eisenhower and Des Plains Ave. in Forest Park. Boards there as well, surface is decent and it has regulation goals. Lights are on until 10 as well, kinda sketchy at night but nothing to worry about.

Nope, that was not it. It may have been Hat Trick though... The team I coached never ended up having to go there thankfully, but I remember someone saying it was an hour north of Darien - sounds like Hat Trick to me!!!

Ugh, that's an hour drive from the city for me and traffic can be the PITS... but it's worth it, I think.

http://batchgeo.com/map/0566952efaeedf9cc5137913ecf36b59 that gives you some idea of rinks in the area

I was going to play roller in a league down at North Avenue Beach, here is the website: https://nabsports.leaguelab.com/page/Hockey

You sign up for a league then you attend a try-out skate and they place you on a team accordingly

I lived in lakeview, getting to Johnny's was a real pain
