NHL Blackout Games

Let me just say f the NHL for blacking out games that feature good rivalries.

Anyone have a list of all the blacked out games this year? Trying to decide if I should just get center ice to end my suffering.

im in texas and every single game tonight was blacked out on all the fsn's. bullsh*t.

They do that for versus on some night and for the NHL network on other nights in an effort to force people to watch those games. The problem is that most hockey fans only care about their team and won't watch anyone else. Obviously many of us here don't fall into that group but we are not average NHL fans.

Yeah, all the FSN's were blacked out for me too for games across the country- and last night was not a VS game of the week.

Question, were the blackouts on the actual FSN channels or thru NHL Center Ice? My guess is that you have some extended sports package and not NHL Center Ice. What happens is that the FSN channels are blacked out in order to protect the Center Ice package. If you don't have NHL Center Ice then having an extended sports package thru your provider for out of market sports channels does you no good.

They cannot have a local blackout to protect center ice, if anything the opposite is true. I cannot get Comcast or the NHL to give me a straight answer regarding blackouts. Comcast blames the NHL, the NHL blames the FCC and the FCC has no idea what the hell they're talking about.

Regardless of what they can and cannot do (by law) they blackout the games (especially big rivalries) to get people on Center Ice. Also, all games are blacked out except for the game on VS when they declare a game of the week.

True, they shouldn't blackout your local FSN channel. However, if you have a sports package that gives you all of the regional FSN's (not NHL Center Ice) then they will blackout those games which are not on your home region's FSN.

True, they shouldn't blackout your local FSN channel. However, if you have a sports package that gives you all of the regional FSN's (not NHL Center Ice) then they will blackout those games which are not on your home region's FSN.

I remember when the NHL package was just getting the games on the regional sports channels and the rest of the programming was blacked out. Not sure if that primestar dish is still in Dad's garage or not.
