Ebay blades

Recommended Posts

They're not Easton blades, they're copies.

And by "Chinatown" they mean China the country.

Isn't Easton made in China?

My s17 says made in China on it

I thought it was still in Mexico, but that's possible. JR said Bauer and Easton were in the same factory and I was pretty sure Bauer was in China.

Either way these are Earston/Easto/Eeston blades- knockoffs that aren't factory firsts destined for hockey shops.

So far the blade has been perfect. I'm out of town right now but I can post up some pictures when I get back.

I've put it through about 5-6 games and maybe 3-4 practice sessions on the ice. There are one or two superficial chips around where the shaft meets the blade, but that's about it. If I didn't have a few new one piece sticks showing up for christmas I'd probably order another one of these. So far it's been just as good as my synergy II blade was. If the one piece sticks don't work out, I wouldn't hesitate buying another one of these (at this point in time at least), that might change in a month though.

A friend of mine purchased one of these blades. First off the blades feel like they are hollow. Easton's SE or SYN II blades feel like they have more umph behind them. These MIC (made in china) blades are nothing special. IMO they are a waste of money, especially looking at the cost. If my buddy's blade dies early i'll see to cut it in half to see the guts but if another owner of these blades breaks his, please post if possible.

OK, so after holding them side to side with my Sherwood RM9 Blades and using them for 4 or five games, I am 95% positive these clones came from the same factory. They have the same hosel, composite weave, and profile as the Coffey tapered blades I have been using for the past few years and, more importantly, the same feel. Whoever they are sourcing them to just put an Easton-esque paint scheme on them.

Considering the cost of the RM8 blades, these clones are a good value if you're buying more than one from this dealer at a time to save on shipping costs.

Sorry about not posting the previously promised pictures guys. I'm waiting on another blade to show up and when it does, I'll post up some more pictures of the e-bay blade after some use.

So you liked it enough to order another?

Actually I picked up a Harrow blade through a trade with another member. I didn't need another blade (the e-bay blade is fine), but I traded away some stuff I wasn't using anymore.

At this point I'd still buy another one UNLESS I could find a legit name brand blade for the same price. The blade has been just as good as the Easton I was using before and it cost me quite a bit less.

Thanks - that's all I wanted to hear. I go through the SII/Elite blades so fast. I figure for half the price I might as well try these. Just ordered 2.

Ok, sorry about the long delay guys. I finally got around to removing the e-bay blade tonight and snapped some pictures. I've used it in about 8-9 games plus a good amount of open ice sessions (4-6 maybe). No major damage, but as you'll see in some of the pics, there are areas where a good amount of the epoxy/coating on the outside has been taken off in chunks. I've also put up a picture comparing the hosel to my previous Easton blade.

cool, looks like they its holding up decently. Whenever I go to a new city the first thing I do is go to its chinatown, it's the best place to find deals - - forget your toothbrush, screw going to wal-mart, Go to chinatown!! Now I can say Forget your carbon blade go to chinatown!

Anyway I'm wondering about the carbon blades that guy has, standard hosel but they look good...

Still using mine... They have only minor wear and haven't given up much stiffness. I'll definitely be picking up more when the time comes.

I got a couple and barely used them.

I've always used a sakic curve. On the "ebay sakic clone" - the blade is about an inch and half longer with a bit less depth and the lie is lower - maybe a 5.

I didn't give much effort to adjust and just quit using them. the durabilty seemed no worse than a SII or Elite. Really liked the thinness of the blade.

If they were exact Sakic clones I would buy a ton of them.

I bought one of the Coffey tapered clones from this guy; stuck it in my RM19 shaft. Lightest blade I have ever picked up, extremely thin, very stiff. Shots were nice and hard, but the feel of this blade IMO is pretty horrible. Some would describe it as "ceramic" or "plastic." Feels hollow inside, little to no cushion when receiving hard passes, plays really choppy. I used it for a couple of games, liked it at first cause it was so freakin light, but then gave up after not be able to deal with the crappy feel and losing so much puck control. They are definitely cheap "knockoffs." Can't comment much on its durability, but it held up fine after a couple of games and stick and pucks.

Flyerman,

Never heard of RM8 blades. I hate the RM9 blades though. Plasticy, limpy, and not durable at all in my experience. But the blade on my RM19 pro stock OPS was awesome.

The thing I like is the fact that ebay guy offers the yzerman curve in lh taper, I might have to give it a go, but with reports of it feeling plasticy and ceramic like (it is carbon fiber) I might have to pass, but it is extremely hard to find tapered blades that have a decent hook to 'em (other than the coffey, I don't like the SWood blades). Maybe I'll order one up this weekend and get back to you guys later on.

Mine was $47 with shipping, so it's not going to break the bank. You just have to decide if it's worth it to lose puck feel for lightness. If you have really good hands or the plasticy feel doesn't bother you much, try it out. But these blades feel even worse than my RM9 blades IMO. Maybe with a double tape job or a tacki-mac feel would improve?

I purchased two of the $15 carbon blades as well...I haven't used them yet, but they seem pretty flimsy. I'm guessing they won't last very long. For anyone who's interested, blade #3 is a p92 clone.

Ok, I'm just wondering if anyone here has bought one and is located in Canada, and if so have you had to pay any extra shipping costs (customs or other crap fees)??

that yzerman tapered is sucking me in.

Nope - I live in Winnipeg and paid nothing extra. Actually I paid $4.25 GST to the seller for two blades. He mentions that in his auction. I paid $89.25 for two blades to my door all in. And they were here in 3 days.

yeah my original (and only) purchase of the 15$ carbon blade has arrived and I gotta say I'm a little underwhelmed. It appears to be somewhere between an ABS blade and street hockey blade...

oh and the blade came from surrey bc...

I don't know if I'll be shelling out for the other blades, I'll tell you when I get a chance to give it a whirl.
