Shaft vs OPS

Recommended Posts

What is the actual performance difference between a shaft/blade combo and an OPS setup? I know you can get new blades etc if they break etc and OPS's may break more so than a shaft, but what about shooting and passing? Is there a major difference in how the setup reacts when shooting or passing?

stick tape, wrap 1 strip over the tendon. that way the blade doesnt wiggle, and the adhesive will hold it in just fine

I've seen more damage from that method than any other. Adding tape where it isn't needed will push out the shaft and make everything loose.

On the original topic, and this has been posted many, many times, Inno said that there was ZERO difference in the performance of their fused sticks and the matching two piece versions. In other words; if the technology is the same, the performance will be as well.

I like the tape idea also, but if it doesn't need it it isn't necessary. I just installed a XXXX wood blade into a dolomite shaft and i had to strip practically all the glue to fit it. It is interesting to know there isn't a performance advantage, I think it's all in your head. This being said it'd be interesting to see the results of say a XXXX ops vs the same shaft with it's wood blade, I can't see it being the same but I wonder how far off.

I don't think a Vapor xxxx shaft and it's OPS will have the same performance. We know that tapered shafts play differently and the xxxx shaft has a .520 taper while the OPS has a .470 taper. However, a one95 OPS has a .520 taper also. But I'm not even sure you can compare the one95 OPS to a xxxx shaft/blade combo.

The big advantage of a two-piece is being able to put in a wood blade. Some people have more feel with a OPS while others have more feel with wood blades.

I was under the impression that OPS and stick/blade combo's do not have the same size dimensions. From my OPS cuts at the fuse point, they have a 2 mm (in general) more narrow taper compared to shaft/blade combo. Thats why people have to cut approximately another 3 inches up from the fuse point in order to put in a replacement blade. Well, this is for Easton stuff anyways. I didn't try it on all the other brands.
