JJ Thompson94 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2008 I just got this hookup and I maybe able to get some training videos for free. I've never got a training video, I feel it's like a self-help book. You can watch a million videos, but if you don't practice they ain't worth sh!t. Since I can get some for free, I figure why not give it a shot, It can't hurt. What are some good videos to get. I'm looking for any sort of skill videos, something for shooting, stickhandling and skating. Nothing about team drills or coaching teqniques. Whatever you've seen or heard of that you might think might be good. Don't know what I can get, but I want to know what I'm looking for.
thejackal 46 Report post Posted December 3, 2008 Kovalev's video is very good even though it might not be as in-depth as say Sean Skinner. For shooting Brett Hull's video is really good, make sure you get the newer version.

Nico 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2008 Kovalev's video was good, not great. He shows a few drills for stickhandling, skating, and shooting. The documentary was good, but was a little slow. All proceeds go to charity which was why I bought it.Sean Skinner's series is a great training tool for stickhandling. He goes in to detail how to do the stickhandling maneuvers; where you hands should be, where the puck should be placed, etc. He talks about when to use certain maneuvers and why. The videos also have quite a few drills to try.Laura Stamm's video is good, but personally, I think the book was better. Robby Gantz's videos are similar to the Stamm video. Both focus on skating. Check out totalvid.com. You can watch the Robby Gantz videos and the Sean Skinner videos.
thejackal 46 Report post Posted December 3, 2008 I find i can pick up a lot more small details because of the HD quality on the kovy DVD. Everytime I watch it I notice something new.
JJ Thompson94 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2008 I'm currently watching the sean skinner stickhandling DVD. I think this guy is the biggest douche I've ever seen. He has some cool drills...that he stole...but the worst part is that he can hardly do them himself. He couldn't get a guy who can accually play hockey to do the drills. sds 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2008 USA Hockey Skills and Drills. $45.MUCH better than Laura Stamm or Robby Glantz. The video is excellent, the narration is excellent, the written notes are excellent.
armada 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2008 You also gonna tell me Laura Stamm can't tell you how to skate because she is an old haag? I'm currently watching the sean skinner stickhandling DVD. qmechanic 17 Report post Posted December 23, 2008 I like Robby Glantz's skating videos better than Laura Stamm's video. The Glantz videos have better camera angles and go into more depth, compared to Stamm.[line copied twice by accident]
sdcopp 1 Report post Posted December 23, 2008 yeah, it's not like Skinner has worked with any NHL teams or Olympic athletes.....oh wait, he has. He also pretty clearly states that he has taken several curriculums from different countries and merged them into one source, you might call that theft I call it a prepared instructor.Skinner's DVD series for stickhandling is pretty good actually, if you coach kids you can use the drills and if you're using it for yourself just take what you need from it.
