Laviolette out, Maurice back in with the Canes

Sources tell TSN the Carolina Hurricanes have fired head coach Peter Laviolette and in a unique about face, have replaced him with former Hurricanes head coach Paul Maurice.

Sources say Maurice will remain on as head coach at least until the end of the season, at which point the position will be re-evaluated leaving the Hurricanes the freedom to head in a different direction, or sign Maurice to a long term contract.

As a Canes fan I figured something would happen soon. The team has a long history of trading away players, then bringing them back. Guess it was time to do it with a coach. Hopefully the move will work.

I still think the B's made a mistake in letting him get away years back. He would have been a good option for the Bruins back then. As for Maurice, he always did good things with mediocre Whale/Cane teams, perhaps he can do it again.
