I got it, there arent any noticeable differences in the game play, still the only ways to score are one timers or blistering slappers top shelf from the point.I want a game that takes a players actual skill into a count. Kovalchuk goin on a breakaway and poppin it top shelf without some "S" move or something stupid, just a straight laser. All games, goalies can hop right on it.

I think the audio is terrific but the gameplay is exactly the same as the year before (which I didn't think was all that good to begin with). The shooting animations are also very weak.

I got it, I think the only reason I'm satisfied with it is because it was $20. I'm not impressed with any of the animation, when most players are skating around it's kinda like watching the hunch back play hockey, most of them are nutty bent over.

Any comparisons to last year? Improvements? Steps backwards? Other than what Kobe mentioned. I wasn't overly impressed with last years game, but EA hockey was really sloppy for a while there, I think i'll give EA NHL '05 a go though.

I don't know guys, I've gone through a few games so far and I'm pretty impressed with it. The more I play the more I'm seeing good stuff that wasn't there last year. Playing on Pro and All-star the defensive AI (both yours and the cpu's) are MUCH improved... the offense AI is cycling the puck on me, throwing it up the point, dumping it in, making diving shots and battling on the boards. The puckhandling is much improved and the stick contol is great for defense. The supergoalies are gone and I've scored on more different types of shots than I did an entire year on last year's game. I'm scoring with wrist shots (dragging wristers are sweet), redirections and tons of other shots that would have no prayer of going in last year. I think the game has been tweaked a whole lot and it looks good.

I almost didn't buy this game because I disliked last year's so much (I loved 2003 though). I'm glad I did as it's a whole new game.

I'm going to go pick it up. I won some poker a few nights ago, and have nothing else to blow my money on. Plus at $20, its going to be really hard to disappoint me. Worst case scenario is I play this until NHL 2005 comes out.

this game is a 2.5 out of 5 on my scale!! the game play and everything is really fun! but please get the stats right!! thats like my one biggest pet peeve!! They have a lot of players listed wrong! I did my fantasy draft of players, and they have eric staal listed at 24 years old, and Nikolai Zherdev at 30... I MEAN WTF is that? also, when the announcers say the names.. i guess its a canadian thing. but Cloutier is not pernounced CLOUU-TEE- ER. oh well its just not as indepth as nhl 04/05 by Ea.. agh!

oh well. its still fun tho... really hard to score on hall of fame mode.. but fun

i like then intensity control, the new fighting, and while skating backwards you can control your stick. also when you pass to the computer u can control ur guy still and get in a good spot and he gives it back. thats pretty sweet.

The scouting system during the offseason is pretty nice, you can put your prospects through skills competitions, and play games using them. Lets you actually know the feel of the player, rather than just his stats.

Anyone else notice when playing other teams they seem to get an insane amount of penelties? I swear I was playing with a 2 man advantage for most games.

I picked it up and played around with it for about a half hour yesterday. I didn't play for too long, but I was confused as hell on what was happening. I'll give it another shot right now and hopefully I'll pick up whats happening.

K, I've been playing it a lot yesterday and today and I like it. Good franchise mode, plus having a fantasy draft makes things better. Trading is almost too easy. I traded Fedor Fedorov and Matt Stajan for Datsyuk, Matvichuk, Tarnstrom, 1st and 2nd round draft picks. My only real complaint so far is that its a bitch loading the franchise because you have to go through about four different screens, and you have to do the same with saving it. It'd be nice if it prompted to save your franchise after every game, or even just when you leave.

Kosy - was that all one move or a few? I didn't mind the trading in '03 because it took into account the age of the player which was nice.

That was all one move. I really don't understand the trade at all. Fedorov is like a 72 and young, Stajan is like 75 and younger, but Datsyuk is like an 85 and young, Matvichuk is like a 78, and Tarnstrom is an 82. Even without the first and second rounders its a good deal for me considering Fedorov and Stajan couldn't make it in my line up. I like this trading system better, it tells you they accept the trade before you agree to it.

Yeah there is. It seems pretty good, but I haven't used a created player in franchise mode yet so I don't know about their salary. Draft picks are good because you can trade them for basically everybody minus Forsberg, at least in EA.

What is the off-season like for those who have been there? Offer legit contracts (cash/year?) is there a cap? Training camp or anything of the sort?

I don't like the nitpick but I think it's pretty ignorant that the pronounce Team Canada "CANA-DIENS" Is it that hard to do one simple voice over instead of just using the same one for an existing NHL team. Especially when you're talking about a country. International jerseys are nasty BTW with the Sweeds sporting the yellow helmets with yellow jerseys. At least EA finally got the rights to the Team Canada logo this year.

Gary Thorne has some "unique" ways of pronouning things. In fact I'm going to go use Colorado so I can hear him say Kariyar.
