CCM V08 Skates

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

so i purchased the V08's and i initially thought they were great....but i have now noticed a couple of issues...and ive only had them about 2 months.

- The felt on the tongue is all coming off

- The Rocket Runner blade has been sharpened only twice, and theres barely any left

- the liner is deterioated

- Whistling sound when i skate and stop

- Took a shot of the toe cap and theres a huge cut/chip

- Skates look 3 years old

- Skates are barely stiff anymore.

Anyone else notice these issues on these skates??

im really unhappy with the quality of this product...thinking of getting RBK 6k's or 9k's

I have a few customers with the vector 8's and haven't seen any of what you mentioned. So, leads me to believe a couple of things, first, the Rocket runner issue you need to take up with your sharpener, they ruined them. These blades can take a LOT of sharpenings if done correctly. Toe cap chips from shots are normal wear and tear, all brands will do that. Some of the boot breakdown could be result of improper heat molding. I suggest you take them back to where you bought them and discuss your issues with them. If under warranty still, the manufacturer should replace them. Not really a good sampling, but i have one customer who has been coming in with them once a week since summer and his still look great.

I've had them about a month and a half and had no such problems. Still very stiff and look like new. Love the rocket runners just ordered another set, never heard the 'whistle'. Overall I'm very happy with mine. Still tons of steel left can't imagine only getting 2 or so sharpenings. My only complaint is I can't get enough flop out of the tongues. I've had no problems with blocking shots. I'm very impressed with my pair for the price and haven't had any of the negative experiences you mentioned. Maybe time will tell, but they seem like they will hold up. Just thought I've give my insight, sorry they aren't working out for ya.

On a side note I am an extremely happy 9k owner, but the felt on my tongues is cut and starting to fall apart. I really don't mind since it is my doing by means of trying to create the perfect flop. If you're looking for a skate with a great tongue, might want to look elsewhere or get non-stock tongues installed. And btw the RBK line fits much different than the CCM Vectors, much flatter and wider (especially in the heel). Goodluck! I know the Vapors by NBH run slim and narrow though.

Thanks for your responses guys...i guess its just me then lol.

I will go see my sharpener for sure, i actually got them heat molded at RBK/CCM headquarters in Montreal, so i might just go ever there and see if they can do anything for me. Also, im noticing a volume issue...when i tie the skates to the tightness i like (to prevent heel slippage), my feet hurt on both sides...i have to loosen up the 3rd and 4th eyelet from the top to prevent the pain, but them i get some heel slippage...i barely passed the pencil test.

2nd pair of CCM's that i trouble with in a row. i guess im unlucky lol
