How To Paint Toe-Caps White?

Recommended Posts

I want to paint my one95 toecaps white... has anyone done this? If so, what type of paint did you use and how many coats did you apply? Also, did you apply a finishing coat like a clear poly?

I knew I'd get this... aside from personal aethetics I am just looking to see how it would be done. Everyone likes their tea a special way, so I'm not going into depth why this is going to be done

My guess would be to roughen up the plastic with some fine grit sand paper or a wire brush, then use a spray paint like Krylon Fusion. Of course take the laces out and tape off any (ANY) remote area that may get some paint that doesn't need it. A clear coat of Krylon after will really make the white shine, if that is what you want. I would also recommend at least two coats of white. If you chose to do this, all of us here are going to want pictures!

I posted pic in the "Show it off" thread, they are about 4 pages back or so. Basically, I just LIGHTLY sanded the caps first so the paint can adhere easier, masked everything off on the skate except the cap, and then put about 3 coats of Krylon Fusion spraypaint on them, but I'm sure any kind of spraypaint made for plastics would work fine. Overall I almost wish I didn't do it because it will look very bad within a month, and you will need to repaint them. But even after you sand them there is still some paint so you almost have to repaint them, you can't really go back to black. But I honestly think this would look stupid on a black skate, but to each his own.
