Elbow Pads

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a pair of lightwieght, and very protective elbow pads. I haven't got a chance to check out any of the new elbows on the market today. What do you guys suggest?

Im currently using a pair of Franklin THT PRO EP 8605 Elbow Pads, and they are by far the best elbows i have used. I have tried the Nike V12, M-1, and Jofa's and they are all very good elbow pads, but the Franklins blew all of these away. These elbow pads are light and really breathable, they have 2 inner straps that fit snug around your arm and two more outer straps to ensure that the actualy pad doesnt rotate. I had a problem with the Jofas where my pad actually turned around on me an dwhen i took a hit i ended up getting 5 stitches in the elbow...friggin glass columns are sharp :( . But anyway, what i really love about these pads is that theres a plate on the outside of the top piece of the elbow pad that slides over the front of your elbow to protect from slashes. Its a hard plastic insert, and it does wonders. I really think you should look into these pads, Franklin has some very innovative and creative technology in your underprotecticve equipment, yet they go for cheap since they are not selling the brand (like Nike for example). For about $35 canadian you will get yourself a pair of these. Sorry if this was a bit more of a review, mods feel free to delete this if its useless.

oh, and i almsot forgot, you can see pics as well as the entire franklin line of elbow pads here : http://www.1800faceoff.com/prod_selected.i...=192&shop_id=12

I just recently (yesterday) had the opportunity to try the new 2004 easton air elbows. I was absolutely blown away at how protective and mobile they were... in the last few months I've tried everything (jofa 9025, 9144, 9066, nike v12, etc.) and they were by far the most comfortable and just as protective as any of the high end jofas.. Needless to say I'll be picking up a pair.

I tried the Franklins that echi24 posted about, and I have the M-1's, and I think that the M-1's are the best elbow pad ever made. Then add their extremely low price and there is no reason you should get any other one.

i'd say the m-1 and franklin are equally protective and mobile...but they were both $35 CDN where i bought them, and i liked the little plastic "sheild" on them...i guess its preferrance....but Geki you make those easton airs sound so good, i'd love to try them if they weren't so pricy ;)

The 8000 elbows are a bit too bulky for me, and dont move quite as well as many that are out.

I second V12s, Nike elbows are just unbelievable. I have THG Nike elbows(a mix between the 10s and 12s...like an 11) and love them, HIGHLY reccomended, they stay put, are comfortable, mobile, and protective.

I've been using the Franklin 9655 elbow pads for over a year, three times a week and they are still great. They are light, protective, stay in place, cheap and best of all, they don't stink up! I love Franklin's equipment because they use some antimicrobial treatment that works (for me, at least).
