interpathway 9 Report post Posted January 22, 2009 So does the lottery do this freely, only charging advertisement time? If a random fan is selected instead of people buying tickets (chances), is their only benefit increased exposure? Other than that a great story, I was watching the game on VS but had no idea about this contest.
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted January 22, 2009 Lightning do a similar contest with fifth/third bank. 15:00min mark in the 2nd. Never seen anyone hit it but it's been close a couple of times... Surprised the time keeper stopped the clock on then 10:00min mark!
RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted January 22, 2009 Sabres Radio does/did something like this too...they are on AM 550...so, if a Sabres goal is scored at 5:50 of the 1st, they give away a car to a listener. Not sure if it is an every game thing...or just select games that are sponsored by that dealership.I proposed it for our Bulldogs Broadcasts...but you'd have to have a client willing to (hypothetically) give away 80 cars *L* Although I'm pretty sure odds are against you there. TBLfan 25 Report post Posted January 22, 2009 Most companies pay another company that does a type of insurance for contests. They come out with the chances of it happening and come up with terms(how many times you can offer/insurance cost/deductible).My last job had one where if the Gators went undefeated they gave everyone that bought during those sale weekends a refund. Checks weren't going to be from my company.

mrusse01 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2009 Greg Esterhai of US Hole In One says the odds of a player scoring a goal at any second in any game is about 1 in 1,000. But Esterhai says that since the promotion is a season-long promotion, the odds go down to about a 1 in 25 chance. Ouch. I'm guessing whomever was running this promotion didn't think there was a 1 in 25 chance they'd be paying out this year.
