cptjeff 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2009 I don't hate wearing elbow pads, but I hate the design of every pad out there. I have vapor 4's that are barely clinging to life and I don't know what I'll do when they're gone because I can't stand (not that I've ever worn) the newer design of two pieces (bicep pad, elbow+forearm as opposed to bicep, elbow, forearm)They make 3 piece elbows. Higher end easton stealths come to mind.
sdcopp 1 Report post Posted April 1, 2009 love my Bauer 8000 elbows, wear those on inline where I catch more hooks in the mid and upper arms. Fuel 130's are pretty good too, those are in my ice bag and I haven't had an issue with those, no mobility issue between either pair
Jarick 5 Report post Posted April 1, 2009 Still love mine, two piece with the elbow strap. Nice and broken in, although the strap is going fast. Probably going to replace this off-season...

furlanitalia 1 Report post Posted April 1, 2009 Just flipped open the catalogue and it didn't look any different from a two piece elbow, I'll have to check them out and try them on.
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted April 1, 2009 Nice big picture, notice the binding. With the CCM, notice the ridge covered by the stretch material.I liked the V08 more than the V10(less bulky) and the Easton S9/S17(strapping setup).
furlanitalia 1 Report post Posted April 10, 2009 Hmm, I should go try some on. Just hate to part with mine. And really can't stand when elbow pads have that stupid cross strap right where your elbow bends.
jmiami 4 Report post Posted April 11, 2009 I wear Graf 500's, you don't even know they are there. But...one miserable fall caused bone chip. I should probably use hard pads, but I hate them. Bone chip is no big deal, but if I hadn't been wearing anything, that would have been a full-out fracture. Bottom line, don't play hockey without elbow pads. A miserable fall can happen anytime and you have no control over it. Suddenly all of your body weight is focused on your elbow, which is making contact with the ice. If you feel encumbered by the size of most hard pads, then look at Graf 500, look at Sherwoods.
Daviau#13 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2009 i play roller hockey and i hate wearing elbows i didnt wear them for a while till i was playingwith these new people and one of them ran into me and knocked me on my ass and it messed upmy elbow pretty good, so even if you dont like wearing them they are still smart to wear
vinceyuen 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 i don't mind wearing elbow pads as long as the straps are made of good material, some of them make my arms itchy as hell

A direct hit on the ice with your elbow - it's a guaranteed fracture, which means your arm is in a cast and you've got to do physiotherapy. Not worth it in my opinion. The ORB 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2009 A friend of mine is a figure skating coach, she had skated for 25 years without any serious injuries. About a month ago she was demonstrating a jump to a student, lost an edge on take off (there was a tiny piece of debris on the ice) and landed fully on her elbows. She fractured both elbows! Not only is she now out for weeks/months, the doctor said that even when healed her elbow mobility will only ever be 60-90% of what it was (depending on how well her physio goes). :( Wear those elbow pads folks. :o My daughter plays youth hockey and always had a tough time finding an elbow pad that either wasn't bulky/uncomfortable, or that slid down her arms (she is small). She eventually found some Nike/Bauer "Comp" Jr pads that although they had full protection stayed in place and were comfortable. I think its just a question of going to a well stocked store and trying lots of pairs on.
