Protective Wrist Guards

Recommended Posts

Didn't Bauer offer something like that a while back, maybe using water to mold it?

Are these what you were thinking of?

That stuff is used in Rawlings catcher's equipment, it's definitely protective. The one issue is that it seems to be a one-time-moldable material and gets pretty gross with sweat.

The OSi system is a water activated fiberglas sheet, much like a cast. I had some OSi shins when I played soccer in high school. Deffinately gets funky quick. Also loses it's ridgitity when it gets wet, so not the most ideal hockey application.

So the hockey application of the Evoshield guard is the same as the baseball one?

Does the protective layer cover the whole wrist, or just one side?

Although it is a really nice low profile design, I am ruling out the Evoshield guards for myself as I want 360 degree protection on my wrists. If the Evoshield guards were all the way around, then I would be all over them.

In the meantime - Does anyone know where I can pick up an Easton or Eagle set of wrist guards in the Toronto area? I can't find them anywhere.

I have always used Bauer and found they work perfectly, im sure they will all work but as far as fitment the Bauer ones don't slide.

Anyway, i went with the Infinity ones from Peranis. They seem good enough for my intended use, which is to be warn on the bottom of my wrist. My gloves (RBK 3K) cover really well to my elbow pads it's just the bottom that are cut short so the guards will fit perfectly in the space. I'll post pics in a few.

here are before & after pictures of the Infinity guards.

bought a pair of bauer today, they seem really tight on my arm, don't know if they fit after they've been put in the wash/dryer

I wash mine after every use, but never put them in the dryer. They are always tight when first put on, but get totally comfortable as soon as you warm up.
