Bauer OPS: XXV = XXX shaft + XXXX blade?

someone told me that the XXV OPS is "fundamentally" the shaft from the old XXX-Lite paired with the blade from the XXXX. is there truth in this statement? if there is, maybe i should start using XXV's!

I can't personally imagine so. A teammate is using the XXVs and he says they're pieces of junk. He is a former XXX Lite user (OPS) but he decided against using his XXVs anymore.

i haven't used one, but it felt pretty light in the hockey shop the other day. i loved the XXX, but cant find them, so i've moved on to the XXXX, which thankfully is finally coming down a bit in price.

I guess I'm just one of those who doesn't feel a difference. I use a XXV and a XXX, I sure as hell can't tell which one I'm using if they weren't labeled...

i went twice once it was crazy like 220...then next time was a few weeks ago it went down to 170...so maybe now its still that or maybe around 150

seems possible. Granted my xxx is prostock it felt very similar shaft wise to my xxv. The xxv did seem a little heavier especially in the blade. The xxv felt boxier farther down towards the blade than the xxx, but if I played blind I dont think I would be able to tell any major differences

When I was at the LHS, I did a little flex test on the blades of the XXV vs the XXXX. The XXXX was solid, while the XXV's blade went back a pretty significant amount. Definitely not something I'd look for.
