warrior mac daddy blade replacement?

Recommended Posts

well I just came back from the shop not too long ago, and they recommended two things:

1. Get a tapered blade, and cut the right length to fit the blade in, and then add an extension to the butt end (you'd have to since you'd lose the length)

or

2. Get a standard blade, flip the stick around and insert the blade into your butt end, and then do a good tape job/necessary cutting on the other end (former blade-end) to make it your new butt-end.

I went with choice #1 and ended up ordering a dolomite tapered blade, and they will install it for me. I find #2 cheaper of a solution but it would look retarded with the stick upside down and also, i question the stability of the stick being used upside down.

I didn't do any research when I needed a new blade for my dolomite (probably the same construction as the mac daddy), so I assumed I could cut the body work then pull the blade out, but I couldn't, so I tried dremel'ing out the shit in the tapered size after chopping the blade off, but accidentally cut all the way through, so I ended up putting a tapered blade in the butt end, I taped it so it doesn't move but the flex is all messed up. But the next time I get to the locker room I'm gonna take the stick home and cut off the messed up tapered part and try to do it right.

Does anyone know how I can get that weird foam out of the shaft? Or will I need to cut the blade hosel?

Sorry pkzild, I'm not trying to steal your thread

it kinda sucks, because I already cut off about 3 inches off the end when I first bought it, and gonna have to cut off a bit more at the blade end to fit the new blade in, so I wont have any shaft left by the end of it.. hopefully I wont have to cut off too much of the blade end

wow that's such an interesting thread, thanks!

But I guess I will still have to wait for my blade to come in and they will do it for me, and I will ask in detail what they did. I might consider this as one of my hobbies now lol I have 2 more broken CCM OPS's that I might wanna try this out on

be prepared to wreck the first one, its all about trial and error from stick to stick.

if they're both the same you've got a good chance of doing ok with the 2nd one.

I've been able to successfully put tapered blades in XXX Lites so I'd imagine it's possible. I'm not sure of the exact process for doing so with a Mac Daddy.

so has anyone been able to cut off the blade of a mac daddy and fit a tapered blade in it?

Yes I have been able to do it. Be careful and start cutting at the lowest point possible and work your way up til you find the most perfect fit. I had a True-1 /Mac Daddy and it worked like a charm. There actually was a small bump where it looked like fuse point but not. I cut it there and the rest is history.

yes... a fused one piece is 2 pieces. hence 2 piece design.

What was the point of this post anyhow? It has nothing to do with the thread.

When you say "the rest is history", do you mean that it's bad? because I already cut off up to the part where I saw some sorta visible "line" across the stick that looked like a "fuse" point. but didnt cut any futher.

this is where i cut it, if you remember the graphics and where you cut approximately and what tapered blade you used, let me knwo if this is the right level:

Thats where I cut it and it's all good. Sorry for the confusion. Now just heat and apply. If there is still room I suggest some tape to make up the space. Best of luck to ya. Let me know how it goes.
