Chadd 916 Report post Posted February 24, 2009 Thornton was on the shelf twice with the B's because of staph. Other players have been out because of it, I believe it was a Leafs player who was deemed allergic to his own gear because of bacteria and mold. There was a point when they thought that Renberg was going to lose part of his arm when he was with the Leafs. Vishi05 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2009 Staph is serious shit, my wife was in the hospital for 3 days on a vancomicin IV for a MRSA. The scary part about it was she didn't have an open wound. It look like a small insect bite and then it developed an absess and a nice big infection.
Cole13 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2009 I recently just recovered from a bacterial infection from what was most likely a dirty mouthguard.. i had a cut on my lip and two days after a playoff game my brain felt like it was gonna explode outta my head and my whole body ached, doctors thought it might of been menangitis, test results were negative though, but after a couple days of bein hooked up to IV drugs i was feling better
chippa13 1844 Report post Posted April 10, 2009 I've never understood guys who will just leave their mouthguard in with all of their other equipment. Just from a grossness standpoint, who wants to put that in their mouth when it has been rolling around with all your other gear.
furlanitalia 1 Report post Posted April 10, 2009 Wow, on one hand I never would've gone up for beers after a wound like that, but on or hand its good to expose these issues so people can see how easily it is to get infections through you gear if you aren't careful. Here's to a speedy recovery, although what were you thinking not going in!
