Reffing Question

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I've looked through the rulebook, and I can't find anything regarding this so I came to you guys for help. Can a ref wear a mirrored visor? I already have one sitting in my garage and if it's legal for reffing, what the hell, I'll use that one rather than shell out more cash for another one. Thanks guys!

-Jake

Check with USA Hockey...all Hockey Canada visors need to be CSA certified.

Certification not required for USAH and mirrored visors are not permitted.

I don't know - it might be cool to have that Highway Patrolman big swinging dick look to keep guys in order.

OK, yeah he'd just look like King of the Dicks.

You can't wear one, but even if you technically could, why the hell would you? Have a little professionalism, would you be thrilled if a ref showed up at one of your games with a frigging tinted visor?

I would never argue a call with robocop.

Double check with USA hockey but we have a ref in our league who uses one, I mean yeah as a ref you look like even more of a tool than you do as a player but, as long as no one questions it, shouldnt be an issue

No need to double check, you can't use them. It's always nice to see someone breaking the rules when they're in charge of monitoring the behavior of others.
