Stick plug

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know where to get shaft plugs. I am talking about the one's that come in new sticks not wooden extensions. A kid I coach cut his pinky open because his plug was gone. No matter how much you remind them to use safe equipment they still let things slide.

Now I checked mine and my boys and they are all about to bust out. When I initially cut to length I wrap a piece of tape around the insert and add a little glue. They last a long time but eventually they begin to break apart.

I am in MPLS and I do not recall ever seeing them for sale.

Hmmmm maybe this is why so many sticks on the shel are missing them.

Howdy, fellow MPLS guy here.

I pick up a wood plug from a hockey shop, cut the tenon into a few short plugs, and put them in the end. It adds minimal weight and seals off the end to prevent injury.

In the USA hockey regulated league I found out from a ref recently that a stick with no plug (wood or the little plastic cap) counts as a broken stick technically; not directly on topic but I thought I'd mention...
