hits of the week

He didn't lead with the elbow...he's all tucked in as he hits him...I think the extension and explosion through the guy makes it look dirty. But what the hell do I know...someone ever hits my like that, I'm a corpse.

Number one was not too bad - he kind of gets the elbow up but not enough to be considered "head hunting".

Number four is probably the dirtiest of the bunch. Kind of looks like he hits him before he plays the puck, kind of from behind.

Most of those hits were dirty just from charging alone. Correct me if I am wrong but you cannot leave your feet when you lay a hit on someone. If you watch most of the checks in the NHL most players jump right before contact.

I agree. Shots like the one Moreau put on Brown are nearly always there if you're looking for them, especially when the defending winger is hanging that low. Usually, guys will hold off on total blindsides like that.

Also, Phaneuf loves just lurking behind the blue line waiting for a forward like that. He almost tries to get lost behind his teammates waiting to strike and put a hit on. I think he must've played DB in football at some point or watches a lot of NFL/CFL up there in Calgary.
