Problem with synergys

Recommended Posts

I may just be making this up, but everyone i know with a synergy se has a problem with the heel of the blade. If this makes sense, the bottom of the heel deteriorates, chips, and it's like there is a hole there. it doesn't seem to affect performance much, but it doesn't happen with other sticks. I noticed this happened with the old synergy sl too and i'm curious to know if this still happens with newer models like the se16 because if it does, i wont go near them. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thx in advance.

Move to Ice Hockey Equipment?

In my experiences (and minwookie's too it seems) Easton has created horrible composite blades. Mine have always seemed to go soft or splinter on the bottom, despite a full heel to toe tape job on them all.

Perhaps you're using the wrong lie if you're wearing down the heel so badly? I've been using an SL for about 7-8 months now and the paint has peeled/chipped off the heel (since I don't tape there) but that's all, no wear that I'd consider out of the ordinary and the stick is still going strong.

I have to agree. If you're only beating the heel up so badly, you very well could have the wrong lie. But yeah, Easton's composite blades, at least on their top end stuff, usually aren't the most durable.

Thanks, i personally dont think it's the lie because the lie is the same on my s11 and there has been no wear at all there, but it's good to know about the blades.

Since it's related, i've had team mates that have had bad experiences with warrior blades, any opinions on that?

Btw, i'm kinda new, anyone wanna tell me how to change the section it's in? i'd gladly do so

Don't know about your teammates' problems, but I loved my Kovalchuk curved Dolomite 2 blade. Lasted for near two months and was stiff until the day I broke it. It snapped halfway between the heel and the tenon, the blade was virtually still perfect. I would personally say that if they didn't cost me $65 a piece at my LHS, they would be my blade of choice hands down.

As for moving to the proper forums, only moderators/associate moderators have that power.

When I see splintered / cracked Easton OPS blades they seem to have less foam / graphite sheeting / rib material / "stuff" in them than other OPS blades. On some blades it looks like there is foam missing between a set of ribs (only air seems to be in there). Maybe, especially for Synergy SEs, this is so the balance is not blade heavy?
