im just wondering but is there anyone here who is homeschooled or was? i am curious as to how it works. i dont know anyone who is or was. do you sit down with your parents? is it formal? is it like a private tutor? is it all day?

The only home schooled people I've ever met have had seriously bad social skills almost recluse like. Turns out they were pretty clever though so I guess their parents did the right thing.

Learning social skills is a major part of learning to deal with the world. Most of the people I've met/seen that have done homeschooling tend to be religious fundamentalists and the kids are totally unable to cope with the real world.

out of the dozen homeschooled kids I met 1 of them turned out to be one of my best friends and the other one is his brother but they were only homeschooled till grade 2 or 3. The rest were nearly impossible to talk to and they all seemed a bit weird.

I was homeschooled and I had plenty of activities outside of the house where I was able to interactive and socialize, similar to this homeschool hockey team. Being homeschooled doesn't mean isolation. I think that's how a lot people view it and I think that's why they stereotype homeschoolers as anti-social. Everyone that I meet or know is always shocked when they find out I was homeschooled, because I can hold a conversation (it's not that hard). I was homeschooled all the way through HS and then attended a top ten college and graduated with degrees in Economics and Biology. I turned out fine.
