Custom Wood Blades

Recommended Posts

I believe Legend used to be good back when they didn't lose that customer service guy. Didn't one of them leave or get fired? But it seems ever since that incident, the company has gone down the shitter.

I contacted Legend with a question about their stock patterns as well as some options I was looking at getting. It took almost 2 weeks for a response, only to have them say that my best be was to send them a blade to replicate.

However, I responded the other day with a couple other questions, and got a reply within a couple hours with all of my questions answered. Their customer service seems to be hit and miss.

Here is a portion of the text from the last email:

Currently turnaround time is 4-6 weeks.

. . . Our price is $28.95 CDN each with a minimum order of 3

blades.  At the current exchange rate it would be approx. $22.25 US.

Shipping is $25.00 CDN . . .

That seems a little pricey to me. However, the 3 blade minimum is tempting. However, I am definately turned off by the amount of negative feedback. It seems that these guys make a fantastic product, when they get it right. However, according to the posts I have read here, as well as many on a few goalie BBs that I frequent, they only get it right about half the time.

Of course, you have to keep in mind that as in the case of most experiences, customers only complain about having problems, and you rarely hear how great of an experience someone had. Keeping that in mind, they still only seem to get it right 75% of the time (being generous) and that just isn't good enough for me.

I have had great luck with TPS sticks, never had a problem with consistency. I am more than likely going to stick with TPS for my tapered blades.

mm705,

Do your Christian blades turn into mush like every Christian blade I have ever had? Do they offer tapered standard length reinforced hosels? What kind of prices and minimums do they offer?

I tried to contact them but I got an email back saying that that email adderess does not take emails anymore, or something. Ya thats basically $37 a blade with shipping for 3. Thats a little pricey. I think TPS would be cheaper would it not?

haha mush? these things feel like a comp blade. i havent changed my blade once and ive had it for 3 weeks going strong skating 4 times a week. go with a heavy shaft tho cuz theyre extremely light so you can make a really really balanced stick. i have my standards in a grip light and its the most balanced thing i have ever used, but to give you an idea how light they are my tapered ones are in an r2xn10 which is like the lgihtest shaft ever and that is more balanced than an xn10 ops. get them you wont be sorry. customer service is also great erinn helps with everything. around 20 a blade if i remember. plus especially if yoiure in the us you get them much quicker than getting them from legend in canada...just my experience. plus legend is slow and theyre blades are soft in a week.

What's TPS's pricing like?

I'll let you know when I find out. I've been trying to contact them so I can open an account for a new shop. The rep doesn't answer the phone and won't return a call.

Has anyone ever ordered through harrow? They make custom blades for $28 too and i was wondering about the quality.

Not sure about Harrow, but FLarrow doesn't do tapered blades. I was looking at them for a minute. A buddy said his blades turned out dead on and top notch. If they did tapereds, I would probably have ordered through them.

mm705,

What kind of minimums are we looking at? Where did you order your blades, or did you order direct?
