Anyone been to a Hardcore Hockey camp?

Recommended Posts

A couple of guys on our team are thinking of doing a hockey clinic/camp this summer to improve our game.

The one I've seen here is Hardcore Hockey. It's a 14 week program, powerskating and hockey skills.

The one the have running may to august is for 18+ age group

Anyone heard of them, are they good/bad etc?

Yes. I've done it the past two summers and hope to do it again if the schedule allows.

It is the probably the best clinic of its kind in the area. The instructor to student ratio is good. They will cover everything (they even do esoteric drills such as jumping over hurdles, receiving a pass, and taking a shot on goal). Because they try to cover all the basic skills and strategy, it's a good overall program. If you are looking to focus on one particular thing, you might not get as much out of it. I recommend it.

They'll teach you everything you need to play. The rest is up to you.

On a side note, the head hockey director Josh Kern played with Scott Gomez back in the day (when they were teens).

Some of the guys I play with in HNA are going to be attending these clinics.

There is extra ice time if you have the drive to get up that early, it does not require a large financial output up front, time and dates are reasonable, close enough for us MD guys

On a different tangent, were you at the Kettler pick up last night (Wed 4/1)?

Introduce yourself next time. We are getting to be quite the bunch in this area. Allsmoke, DoubleT96, Minwookie, Interpathway, Hockeysc23, Moose and I'm sure others that I am foregetting. All have been super nice and real good players

Yeah, I didn't notice the bag until you were walking out the door. Then I put 2+2 together when I saw your post on this thread. Next time I'll know.

or met you. :P

have you tried the adult learn to play class at kettler? I took it for a couple of months when i was getting back into hockey. It's 45 mins of working basic skills then 30 mins of full ice scrimmage. It covers all the basics and all the coaches are willing to help you on an individual skill if you want to.

*edit*

btw, interpathway, did anything come of your idea of getting dc msh'ers together to rent ice time?

I think the only local MSHers I've met are Hockeysc23 and average_joe. I played against average joe before

That's what I've heard.

That's why I carry round this magnificent beer belly, it means every step I take is a calf strengthening exercise.

Anyway, I've decided I'm going to take the camp. The only time I get on the ice is if I have a game, so my skating and stickhandling have not improved as much as they probably could.
