Pros and Cons of Se16/S17?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering about durability and feel, just things like that. Also which is a better stick durability wise? thanks.

Though the link above does specify all valuable information I'm going to nutshell my experience with these two sticks.

It is true that the S17 will turn your slap shot / wrist shots / snap shots into monster shots! But their durability has always lingered in our minds. Unlike some sticks breaking for some people in a handful of games... The s17 broke in 3 months for me at the heel of the blade.

Regardless of what reviews say about the stick- It is probably one of the best sticks, performance wise, I have ever used & encourage you to buy it if you don't mind the price tag. But do keep in mind that the ONLY CON for this stick is hefty ( besides the price tag ).... The twig snaps at the blade easily.

I was talking to an EASTON rep the other day & he did say the Easton S17 2009 models have been improved in their durability + have made the blade stronger to avoid these breakages. I don't know how true this is but it seems promising.

The SE16 is a stick I wouldn't mind buying over and over again though. This stick doesn't necessarily concentrate on shot technology but it definitely lets you feel the puck on your blade. It definitely helped my stick handling out a lot. It's light & I like it even more now that they brought out a 75 flex! ( i use a 85 flex ) & it's only about 179-190$ ( around me at least- i'm in California ). Sure it's not that much cheaper than the S17... but i'd rather dump 180 than 220.

For cons? it broke for me at the blade 10 days out of warranty:( it's just something with the easton blades! I don't know. I'm not a fan of the chrome stick either.... they chip real easily:-X other than that. I think this is a better overall stick than the S17.

My Opinion! Ever one says the se16 has better feel and the s17 is better for shooting. But I think there is more feel on the S17! It has that hard paddel feel which can be felt with the slighest touch. se16 has a softer feel for people with not as good hands, IMO. My se16 is 75 compaired to 85 in S17 so Its hard to compair shots. I like the se16 better because the blade is so touchy on the S17. Both great sticks but duribilty is an issue. Back of blade cracked on se16 in 3 weeks. shaft on S17, fluke. Easton warrenty is slow and doesn't have everything in stock. Sent me wrong stick!
