OPS vs. 2pc set up

Recommended Posts

I cant shoot with a price point ops at all, not worth a damn. Tried out a reebok xt and my shot is garbage, however my shot is the same with a one piece or a two, i just bought a 2 to put use to my hull mission blades and its sick, love it.

There must be some discrepancies over the years regarding the euro curves.

Ever used an Yzerman? Those things are great. If I could find more of those, I'd buy them all up. I'd like to set up a custom pattern with this curve along with the P14. Got a nasty lil hook on it

I've seen some as standard wood blades at the local PIAS. Don't know if they're still there or right or left, but PM me if you want me to go look.

I've been using eatson synergy se shaft with se16 blade sence I broke my se16 ops and although its not a bad set up it doesn't have the feel or balance of se16 ops. Just bought 0ne95 ops also feels nicer than 2 piece. I don't think any of the sticks make me play any better but I do feel a difference. Even know were not pros I like to feel comfortable on the ice, but will it change our play? NO. If your not coming from a top of the line OPS you will never no the difference. Anyways alot of these 2-piece sticks you guys are talking about "0ne95" "Dolo" will bring the price tag up to 150-160 us $$. Look for some left over OPS sticks like Synergy se or warrior mac daddy for around 130ish!!!

If my assumption is correct that you are a fan of heel curves, I have a bunch of top of line Drury and Drury clone sticks I'd be willing to part with within your price range.

If you're really in cost-saving mode, you can find some nice older shafts on ebay, too... TPS XN10 redlites and Easton Ultra lites are pretty solid. for shafts that are a bit older. You can sometimes get them real cheaply, if you keep looking.

I have a couple of TPS CSR Rubber tapered shafts that I just bought as well. Only used them a little, but they seem really nice for 43 bucks each (Hockeygiant). I'd buy 'em again.

Redlites here are $159.99, used to be 189.99. Still to this day, checked today. I picked up a reebok 8k shaft and i have a mission pro stock blade in it, awesome setup.

Those prices might explain why that place still has the Redlites in stock after so many years.

That's a drag... recently picked up a new XN10 Red Lite for 46 bucks or so on ebay (maybe I just got lucky). Can't figure out how a shaft that old can still be so expensive, even with significantly higher Canadian prices. Agree with you on the mission pro stocks. Have a couple, love 'em so far.

Cavs: What hand are they? Yes, I much prefer a heel curve. I've virtually used it exclusively since the old Verbeek pattern woodblade I had way back. The Kovalev, or Drury pattern works good for me, but I suppose I'd be willing to experiment, which is where the OPS option would get too expensive (2 car payments, plus mortgage take priority :) )

I have found so far on eBay some pretty good prices for the high end sticks and such, but I am concerned the shipping charges can outweigh the deal, plus I've had experiences from buying on eBay where I get a UPS (or whatever) charge for customs coming from US into Canada on top of it.

I have to go check out my fav LHS here in Windsor - see what they have to offer.

You need to make sure they send usps. It takes a little longer but theres no custom fees. It is expensive to send stuff to canada usully cost me about 35.00us to send a stick usps to canada.

A lot of people must be buying them they had a whole rack full now there down to like 4 or 5. They were selling the tps blades for $29 so i bought a few. Still, more then i wanted to spend on the shaft, they were all regular or whip, no 110 flex.

I've got one of the old Easton Ultralite Z-Tac Kevlar RH Yzerman blades that I'd like to get rid of...the 6 lie is too much for me. It's a great lightweight older blade, but in new condition. Also I believe I have 2 more tapered wood/composite t-flex blades in the Yzerman pattern if you would be interested.

On the topic, I'm still using my old Easton T-Flex shafts with synergy blades, they are incredibly light, snappy, and have held up like tanks.
