MR MIZUN0 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2009 Me and my dad play open every week together, and the other day someone took a shot and I got the follow through right to the lower half of the cage. I then told my dad that if it was him (no cage, no visor) he would have had alot of teeth missing, and alot og blood loss. How do I convince him to wear at least a visor? lampliter87 8 Report post Posted July 14, 2009 If getting hit in the face doesn't convince him then probably very little will.
sickwilly 37 Report post Posted July 14, 2009 Maybe ask him if he'd be willing to commit to trying it for a few skates (full sessions). Then if he wants to take it off, that's his right/problem. You could tell him that's the only way you'll stop asking him to wear something. That being said, if he agrees, make sure you set him up with something that's in good shape and won't obstruct his vision much! Maybe if he tries it, it won't be as much of an adjustment for him as he thinks it will be.
MR MIZUN0 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2009 He got two teeth knocked out a few yaers ago, and wore a visor for two weeks and then took it off, maybe he needs a stick to break his jaw?
uclahockey707 1 Report post Posted July 15, 2009 Wow man, that's ridiculous, he lost two teeth and he still rolls without a cage or visor. Sounds like you're probably outta luck on this one. Especially playing open hockey where people have terrible stick control, a visor or a cage really helps save you face and teeth.
eric42434224 1 Report post Posted July 16, 2009 Some people are either in denial, or just dont care, when it comes to behavoir that may be detrimental to their health or well being. And no matter what you do, they will continue with that behavoir. I have been trying to get my Mom to quit smoking for 20 years. Still trying.

oggy_3 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2009 I think you need to realise for someone who probably played there whole life without any facial protection then to add it is actually quite annoying and does decrease visibility. I swtiched to a visor when i hit junior tryouts and i remember going back to prep school my grade 12 year and hating wearing a cage at for the first couple ice times. Rocketking 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2009 You know if he keeps playing long enough he's going to get all the justification he's ever going to need. Hopefully he'll get convinced by the superficial injury and hot something really bad. Hell I wear a half visor and has a players stick push thru all if that and cut the inside id the skin around my eye. it wasn't a deep cut but it wasn't hard to imagine the damage had I not had anything?
