Yeah im curious about this also, i know im going to have to clean the white part on my gloves at some point.

Tide pens are for stain removal more then anything aren't they?

I bet you some kind of Oxyclean thing will work.

Have you tried mild soap and water? - like ivory or castille soap

Keep in mind agitating the dirt will help, so use a vegetable brush or something similar.

I would test oxyclean on a small section (of each color) before doing the whole glove...

is the magic eraser only good for items that are white? Will it work with no damaging effects if the nylon material is grey or else blue?

try it on an inconspicuous area first. magic erasers have bleach in them, so you never know.

Yeah I agree. I was reading review on them and people were saying that it took the finish off of their appliances, so it's some pretty strong stuff.

thanks, that fact totally passed me.

I read in another thread about using the Tide Magic Pen. Does anyone have any familiarity using this product on gloves? How would this work? Does this also have bleach?

Magic erasers work on everything! I use those on the goals at the rink where I work when i dont feel like repainting them.

forgot to clarify, these are the Tide To Go pens, that previous members spoke of, right?

correct.

Bnatural: they work on lots of stuff, but i would hesitate to use it on dyed fabric, because like i said, there's bleach in it.

I go with a soft bristled toothbrush personally... seems to be gentler on embroidery. Plus, its just a hockey glove, so its not like it takes forever, plus it is easier to get the spaces between the rolls.

anyone have any tricks for getting mildew out of gloves? I have some white nylon 4-rolls that have some mildew spots on them, and the magic erasers don't seem to do the trick.

I have a suggestion air out your gear after you use it. Leaving it in a car for 9 days and then announcing to the world how much your equipment smells like ass is no way to score points imho

Maybe I should clarify.

I bought some gloves off of ebay that the seller kindly forgot to mention had some mildew spots on them. If anyone has any useful suggestions on how to remove said spots, I would greatly appreciate it.

If, on the other hand, you want to be an ass, please take your opinion to PHEW.

For the record, I went with a toothbrush and bleach, and the mold spots disappeared after some scrubbing and washing with boiling water. The dye in stitching ran, but everything else held it's colour.

Just need to stitch up some of the tears, and they'll be ready for display in the man-cave :)
