State wars is coming up in a few weeks, and i need new wheels.

I was intrested in the addiction and hornet. Is the addiction worth the extra money??

does it last longer than the other labeda wheels? and im currently using the green yellow hornets.

thanks for all feed back. and if you have used the addiction let me know good and bad things

CJ Yoder's been on them for a bit here. Says they're good wheels (which is all the detail you'll ever really get from him on gear lol), just took a little bit to break in but they seem to be holding up fine for him

^ he changed to the Labeda milleniums. At least thats what he had at hockey camp. I've loved my rink rats. You might wanna look inot Revision wheels as well, heard some really good things about them.

that camp was really recent, wasn't it? If that's the case then he had them on for a while. Granted he's not real particular about gear, functional solid gear is what matters to him and he's such a good player it really doesn't matter a whole lot

+1 for Revision Variants

I tip 250lbs and I was on bronze variants 2 or 3 times a week for over a year and they were still solid. They outlasted 2 pairs of skates and were still going strong when I sold them. No chunking whatsoever.

What surface did you play on? I'm starting to chunk the heck out of the Labeda Medium Grippers I've been running since march on my sprungs & am looking at options. I play on a painted wood floor, for 2 hours twice a week.

Standard sport court. The smooth tile stuff.

No wheel is worth $13-14.00 IMO.

That's USD I take it? I just started roller hockey as a sub and still learning about all the gear etc. Tonight I broke three Rink Rat Hot Shot wheels and they're listed as $13/wheel CDN on my LHS site. Also I made the dumb mistake of leaving a couple of my wheels, with the bearings still in them, at the rink.

that sucks,im alittle surprised usually hot shots hold up pretty good, have you had them a while?

It was my 9th game, so I'm guessing that's not very long? Anyways since others have recommended in this thread I think I'll check out the Revision Bronze wheels. Since I know jack about inline and only just started playing roller hockey this summer for fun as a sub, I know I have to get bearings too and spacers as well? Any recommendations? I have RBK 5K skates.

I didnt like Revisions. Didn't seem to have much grip and I wore them down like crazy....

totally agree except the grip part which i liked but it felt like skating on quicksand compared to rinkrats. I don't think i've skated on them more then 10 times and already i see very visable wear and on top of that a few "chucks" have developed which gives me that "thump thump thump" feel at low speeds. My first season isn't even over and already i have to look for new wheels <_< Grip i would say they are better then rinkrats but at a very high cost... i think i'll either go back to rinkrats or try to new labeda wheels because i'm a sucker for new stuff.

so hornets? or revisions? and when you first get rink rat wheels dont you have to skate on them and break them in? i held some yesterday and they felt slick. so if i got them and put them on for a game without breaking them in will i not have grip?

Were you using the bronze ones? My main concern is durability as I'm only playing for fun.

Any recommendations on bearings? As mentioned I don't play seriously so I don't need the best, just ones that have decent performance and don't cost too much.

I am a fan of Rink Rats. I've used both the Hot Shots and the Hornets. I have not tried Revisions, so I cannot comment on them at all. I'm almost 200lbs, play defense and my strength is my skating ability. I just broke out a new set of Hornets yesterday and they did get a bit more grippy after a little bit of use. I was able to skate them during a quick warm up and they were fine for the drop of the puck, but as the day went on (I played three games) they did seem to get a bit more grippy.

I've used both, like both but seem to get a little longer life out of Rink Rats. The Revision outer pour showed less wear for me, but I blew three front wheels off the core at day 35-40 or so (30 day warranty) which really discouraged me a bit because I did like the slightly stiffer feel and grip was fine. I can get 4-6 months out of Hornets depending on how much reffing I do.

That being said I'm going to try out the Addictions and the new Eschelon wheels when those come out. At some point a good wheel is a good wheel, so it's not too bad trying out other good wheels. Personal preference will dictate which works best for you.

I agree. Im sticking with Rink Rats personally. I know a bunch of great players around here that swear by the Hot Shot. My next wheels are going to be Hot Shots (I normally use Hornets)
