Who cares about winning

"Crosby is a baby. He never fights (well he does, but he never fights guys like Laraque) like my favorite player Ovechkin. Ovechkin also scores way more goals, points are nothing. Ovechkin is Jesus on ice."

Pretty much all that Crosby haters can say. The guy is the best hockey player still alive and playing today, no question about it. Amazing two way player, elite skills in every category, a leader and a truly great player. Where does this baby crap come in? Do all you haters know him personally or something? Hes the captain, of course he talks with refs. I met Crosby once, class act. Another thing is I have never heard anyone throughout any organization hes played in say bad things about him. I seen him play quite a few times in junior and nobody called him a baby then. When people give the argument 'he fights non fighters' i laugh. Whats he supposed to do, challenge Laraque or something? Crosby is by rule generally a non fighter himself, hes just a player who plays with so much passion and heart sometimes he loses his temper. He never backs down from fights however, he just doesnt go looking for them. We are lucky to see two of the most exciting players of all time play together (Crosby and Ovechkin). There both in there early 20's too, just wait tell there in there prime. People who hate him are idiots, he defines passion, talent, heart, leadership and success.

While I'm still a huge Red Wings fan. I've become a bigger fan of hockey itself lately. I was beyond aggravated listening to everyone say Hossa sucks when he was a Pen, than decree him lord and savior, only to decide he sucks again, after a 40 goal 70 point season.

I watched game 7 with 30+ members of my extended family. We were all very disappointed in the loss, but me and a few of my cousins watched every penguin hoist the cup, amid jeering for crosby and malkin, and overall bitchiness. As soon as Crosby touched the cup, my aunt stalked off, and after a few minutes marched over and said "WHY are you WATCHING THIS?" I just laughed and turned back to the TV, genuinely happy to see Jordan Staal, Marc Andre Fleury, and Max Talbot hoist the cup.

I understand why, it just pisses me off that people refuse to acknowledge a great player because he's on the wrong team. And that goes for crosby too. I hate certain things he does, in particular his "fights" and general unsportsmanlike conduct (the "announcement request" and not getting in the handshake line...) but the guy can flat out play and I enjoy watching him.

Except he did, and everyone by Lidstrom and draper? got to shake his hand. Not to mention that the pens had to wait a lot longer for the handshake line the year before then the wings had to wait this year.

Also, not every player in the league fights. When was the last time you saw Samsonov fight anybody? What a hoser, right? What about Ovechkin? Can't say I've seen him fight. Datsyuk? Crosby has fought, just not with an enforcer...

You seem to hate the Crosby bashers, but you're repeating some of the lies and non issues they use to complain about him...

Some players fight. some players don't. Only one punches guys in the balls from behind and jumps people on the faceoff. His fight with ference was fine, but the other two were pathetic. Again, I like the way he PLAYS, (skates, passes, shoots etc.) but I do not like his on ice demeanor.

I try to appreciate his play as much as possible, but it's hard to overlook him asking the refs to essentially stop fans from cheering their player.

Great, this has turned into another: "Top Reasons to Hate/Love Sidney Crosby" thread. When the fuck will the guys on either side of this argument just get over it? Just curious.

Crosby might just be more polarizing than abortion. Seriously.

Anything other than complete and total adoration seems to piss off certain people. As I've said before, the people on here that criticize things he does acknowledge his talent and drive. It is the people that refuse to recognize that he may have a flaw that cause all of the problems. The next person to make an issue out of it, one way or the other, is going to get a vacation.

Agreed^

I see it from a relatively unbiased viewpoint. I see some criticizing while acknowledging skill and talent, and I see some with adoration while acknowledging flaws.

It is the ones that have the Crosby pendulum swung so far in one or the other direction that it becomes silly.

His skill and talent put him at or near the top of his sport . That is not disputable.

He has flaws, with some more prevalent and distasteful than others. Also not in dispute.

He is undoubtedly one of the best hockey players today, and possibly with work, time, and maturity, he can outgrow his faults.

....but there will always be haters and fanboys regardless...even if he became "perfect"....it is the nature of the world we live in.....and their opinions are near impossible to change, even with fact, logic, and reason.
