Ok, so my team accidentally ordered me an xxl shell, and I need a medium. This thing comes all the way down to the the middle of my shin!!! I need help! My coach wont let me play without it.

If it was really the teams mistake, then it should be up to them to fix it and order the correct size. It shouldn't put you at a disadvantage if they're incompetent.

Or just suck it up and go buy a shell in your size.

Exactly what I was going to say. If they ordered you a xxl instead of a medium why should you run around trying to get it fixed?

Bad idea. It will begin to fray and before you know it you wont have a shell at all. You can however have it hemmed at the length you need, or like the others have posted make the team make up for their mistake.
