Difference between RBK edge socks Pro vs retail

Recommended Posts

If someone could enlighten me on the difference between the RBK edge socks Pro VS retail, it would be much appreciated. From what i have read in some topic, many prefered the pro stock one over the retail. Is this related to the fit, more resistant to wear or the breathability of the socks?

Also, recently i have seen many practice pro stock socks on ebay, selling at high price. Do these one are the same as the regular pro stock exept for the color?

Thank you for the answer.

Vince

Huge difference between Pro stock and retail.....

The pro stock material is much more spandex feeling and moisture wicking, it fits tighter to your leg and holds your shin pad in place much better. The Retail is a more loose material and is possibly a little more breathable but also quite baggy and for me the velcro is too high on the sock to even attach to my shorts.

IMO the pro stock socks are very nice, the retail I could do without ever wearing another pair.

I have never used pro stock RBK Edge socks. I own 2 pair of retail RBK Edge socks and there is a difference between the 2 pair. One pair is Edmonton and the other is Tampa Bay. I used the Edmonton socks for over 2 months before I bought the TBL socks. I have used the TBL socks twice. The striping pattern has made all the difference between the two team socks. Edmonton has the "traditional" striping pattern completely around the sock while the TBL sock has the "new" striping pattern that "V"s down the back of your calf. In the construction of the TBL sock, there is the ventilated mesh running down the back of the sock to the bottom. This feature is not on the Edmonton sock due to the "traditional" striping pattern. I thought this would be a plus for me in wearing the TBL sock with more ventilation. It has actually worked out in reverse. Due to the construction of the TBL sock, it is much looser at the bottom than the Edmonton sock. I use clear tape and go tongue under shin pads. No flop for me. My days of flop were in Daoust 301 Nationals! Now, I want extra protection as a defenceman if a slapper from the point nails me where the skate and shin pad meet. When taping the bottom of the Edmonton sock everything stays snug. With the TBL socks, everything down low gets loose rather quickly. The elastic on the Edmonton sock provides a better fit for some strange reason. Both socks fit roomy and loose elsewhere and I like that. The Edge socks are just so light that I cannot see wearing old school socks ever again. Just my observations on the retail Edge socks. I also have the Nike Swift socks. I like them a lot as well. They just fit so snug that I don't even bother with tape. I love how both brands are just so light.
