No pro stock stuff at HG. All you'll find is a lot of stuff at industry standard price and a significant amount of clearance items from last years catalog. Hell you might find a pair of Vapor XX gloves or something too.

They'll probably just be confused as to why they have a customer in the store at all on a weekday in the summer.

That is so true :P Summers at HG lasted fooorevvveerrr and not in a fun way.

Regarding the OP, if you are in the neighborhood anyway, it's worth stopping in just to see the place. It is enormous as far as hockey stores go, and its kind of cool just to see how big it is. I agree though that the other shops in the area have better customer service.

There used to be a chick at HG that always smiled at me when I walked into the store.

That would be Amanda or Ani. Depends if she had a tattoo on her hand. One quit, the other got fired. None of the other girls who worked there smiled while on the clock.

This was about a year or two ago I'd say. Gave me the "eyes" not that I didnt mind. I know people do not like HG, but you can get some nice deals on beer league sticks and there are a lot of choices when it comes to protective gear and practice type jerseys. I personally would not get my skates there, but the other stuff, yeah not a problem. I mean, $60 for NBH Vapor XXV sticks is a pretty good deal for some people who do not mind using non top-of-the-line stuff. One thing I wish HG would have is Bauer One95 shafts. I'm usually a two piece guy. I did buy a nice pair of NBH XV gloves for $39 in maroon and gold. I think they're a great glove for the $$$

I like Hockey Giant for protective stuff...they typically have the best prices on it. Also a huge in-store jersey selection. Other than that, I like Westwood or General Sports.

Yeah you'd be lucky if found anything but a TPS XXstiff rubber shaft at the giant. Dunno why they dont get anything else. There is a LOT of things wrong through out the process of putting gear on the shelf at HG, and if the item is in demand, it gets poached for an online order before it can be taken out at times.
