Eagle PPF gloves vs Graf 700

Recommended Posts

Both feel great in the store. Eagle is a tad looser. I like that the Graf is snug, but wondering how it feels on the ice. I know Graf ppf is top-shelf and have heard nothing but good things. But does anyone have a comment on playing with the Graf 700's? Has anyone played in both? Thanks in advance for any comments.

I've used both. In fact, I had the G700 gloves first and was happy with them. Then after all the reading I did I got a pair of PPF Tuff-Teks. Fit was very similar; maybe a tiny bit tighter than the 13" Grafs but that may have been the difference in sizing alone. The big difference that I really liked? The palms. Simply nothing like the Grafs and sooooooo smooth. This led me to buy a second pair of PPF gloves and in fact my Grafs sold this morning on eBay. I have a pair of pro stock RBK Pro Tacks in nylon, and they fit quite a bit looser than the Graf or Eagles did. But, they had the backhand padding removed. When I pulled the pads back out (didn't cut them out just pulled back out) PPF gloves they were still a little more snug than the RBK gloves were. In short... I prefer the PPF fit myself.

Some people have mentioned durability problems with the Graf gloves.

My Graf 700 gloves are great, but they stink to high heaven. I need to replace the palms on them and yea, the stitching will come loose after awhile. I plan to address that with hockeyrepair.com this week..Thanks for the reminder. For the price though, the Graf 700 gloves are very comfortable and offer great flexibility. They're easily my favorite pair of gloves right now.

I guess I am not sure why folks have the stench issue with their gear? I always come home, throw everything out of the bag and give it a quick spray of Febreze and then sit it in front of the fan. This includes skates with insoles removed, gloves with inside padding flopped out, shoulder/shin/elbow pads, and pants. The underwear/jersey/socks/skull cap all get washed gently with Woolite and hung to dry. Helmet gets washed out with hot soapy water and then toweled off and put in front of the fan too. But there are those who show up each week and could gag a maggot when they not only open up the gear bag, but when they sit by you on the bench. Barf. I also throw fabric softener sheets inside the bag after all is put away and you can even put them inside gloves if needed.
