Who plays on two teams back to back?

Recommended Posts

Not sure. Never had to deal with it before and it looks like they have the late games for this season rescheduled for Sunday nights. It is ridiculous though and it looks like it's going to get worse since they are closing another rink in the Dallas area.

Done it many times. Depends on what the implications of each game are. Sucks if one's really important and it's before the second, so you blow all of your energy and stamina.

Does anyone with a family and kids do this? I wouldnt dare do so

I am one of those goalies who likes to play and play.

About ten years ago I would play roller hockey for two teams on a Monday night and two dedicated teams on Sunday afternoons but very often end up substituting for another team. So there were two days a week I would play at least two games back to back and usually still play pick up for two hours on Thursdays.

These days I still play roller hockey and every Sunday morning I play two games back to back and will play pick up on Thursdays and some Tuesdays at 9 PM for almost two hours straight at times. There are a couple other goalies who are ready to faint by that time but I say good. That's more play time for me.

Then at 7 the next morning, I am up with the wife and kids but she goes to work and I stay home to raise our children and do laundry.

My wife would let me play more often but these days I don't want to miss too much of my children's daily lives. Playing in the late pick up games, at least my family is at home sleeping and little else is lost.

Last month we played an all night tournament playing five shortened games between 12 midnight and 8 AM and I didn't sleep again until 9 PM the next night. I did not think it would be fair to my wife and family if I had stayed up all night and then slept during the day so I just lost a night's sleep and played hockey.

But it did take me about two days to get back to normal enthusiasm.

Good advice. Listen to your body when it says to take a night off. At 2 months from 40, my body lets me know more often than it used to! :)

O.K. after finishing the winter season on two rec league teams I will never do the back to back game night thing again. At 40 years old, my body just wasn't enjoying it. Some days the body, especially my knees just said "stay home pal".

Well I've never played two games back to back, like 20 minutes apart or anything, but I once had a tournament where I played 2 games 3 hours apart on Saturday and then another 2 games 3 hours apart on Sunday. I did not feel tired at all that 4th game on Sunday and I rather enjoyed playing so much.

This next winter season I'm going to be joining multiple leagues: House league and one that's a higher level of hockey.

House league gets me on the ice an average of 2 times a week, one of those being a game and the other a practice.

The higher league gets me on the ice usually 3 - 4 times a week, still only one game and the rest are practices.

So on average I should be on the ice 5-6 times a week, and only one practice should be the same day. (last time I checked)
