RBK 6K padded shirt

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering if I can use a padded shirt as a sort of undershirt. (If it matters, I'm using the Sher-Wood 5030 SPs.)

Does anybody have any idea how bulky this item is?

Thanks!

if ur looking for more protection. skip the shirt and get some decent shouldies. Why do u get the least protective shoulder pads. and the most protective shirt? the protection is supposed to be in the shoulder pads.

to each their own.

You make an excellent point.

I ask about the shirt because it's on sale. Plus, I can always use another wicking undershirt for hockey.

I've checked out the 6K shirt and to be honest, I was a little underwhelmed with the padding.. It will help a bit with sticks and elbows and such, but the padding is pretty thin and not very high density. I'd second what dtaggs19 said and check out some of the shoulder pads around. Easton's ST line is pretty low profile, and the new Bauer One95's have removable shoulder caps if you're just worried about the bulk.

I use that 6k padded shirt for pick-up and rec league...it works pretty well for that if you avoid any major contact. For a checking league, just get better shoulder pads. The shirt actually seems kind of hot to me, and isn't too breathable. I wouldn't want to wear it under shoulder pads.

my "own" is wearing light, specific form fitting protection that stays with the contact points I'm protecting, with my light/mobile pads on top. just seems to offer more mobility and ventilation. e.g. for pants, I have an old D-R roller girdle I wear under the bottom half of Tackla 5000X pro shells. for shoulders (I've been in non-check senior leagues for years) I use 5030s but wear them over a padded shirt, now going with the McDavid hex pads: http://www.mcdavidusa.com/store/item.asp?I...PARTMENT_ID=735 . I still wear a long sleeve elbow-grip shirt under the McDavid, but never feel too hot, and the McDavid padding adds protection in key areas like spine and sternum. if I were to go back to check leagues, I'd dig out my old Jofa 400s with the heavy shouder caps, ... but I'd still wear the McDavid underneath.
