flyweightphantom 1 Report post Posted September 7, 2009 I have a good pair for ice but feel they are way too bulky for roller. I would like a shin guard that really hugs the knee cap. I tried on the one95 and XXXX and didn't feel like they hugged my knee well enough. Also tried a few pair of eastons on as well and wasn't impressed. Anyone have ideas on a shin guard thats not too bulky and has a great fit? Also I like to use a 13" shin.
1stLiner91 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2009 maybe your knee is just too small for the one95 or xxxx. pp
duch 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2009 Try the Warrior or Easton shin pads. Not too bulky and slim lower taper to the top of the skate.
flyweightphantom 1 Report post Posted September 7, 2009 I dont think my knee is too small it just felt like the bauers didn't sit firmly on my knee well enough. I'll check out the warriors if anyone has them locally.
zacharius 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2009 I love my One50's, not sure how they compare to other shin pads, seeing as I've used them for the past 3 seasons. They feel great, and I see a lot of people using them at the AAA/AA levels I'm playing at. Might want to check them out
Hooah4 12 Report post Posted September 7, 2009 Try the 3k's by reebok. Nice slimmer fitting pad but still protective.
dsjunior1388 81 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 You could always find a pair of ref shins, designed to be slim and low-profile.
shoeshine boy 249 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 one issue you may find with Bauers and Warriors is that 13 inch pads are built for seniors. most other manufacturers consider 13 to be a junior size so the knee cap may be a little smaller as well. grp 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 I just picked up xxV's and did a bit of mods and we will see tonight i am using 14"...I use to have sherwood oldskool ones that were super lean, these are lean and so far so good..Although warriors look nice
ts.krajewski 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 http://www.hockeymonkey.com/mission-hockey...fuel130-sr.htmlThat is what I have and I do not recommend those. They are the largest shin guards I have ever seen.http://www.hockeymonkey.com/sherwood-hocke...dition5030.htmlI want to try these on but its hard to find sher wood pads at stores around my house. From the looks of it though those shin guards seem thin.
Scotty 8 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 Easton's latest line of shin pads felt pretty snug up top to me the other day.
cptjeff 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 They are a little more snug. I like that around the leg, but the knee got a little too tight for my preference. It's breaking in on my new pair though, or I'm getting used to it.To clarify, I'm continuing on the post above about easton.
