What Hockey Magazines do you read?

Recommended Posts

Over here in UK we dont really have many hockey magazines. I sometimes buy The Hockey News if i get to the shop that sells it.

So i was wondering...what hockey mags do people read? Whats good about them? And possibly can you buy them online!

The Hockey News, I have a subscription for it. I like it because it covers the whole and I really like the end of the season yearbook. And you can get THN online, just visit their website

That's really all that's out there for quality hockey magazines. My brother used to have a subscription to Hockey Digest, which was alright, but they went out of business and stopped publishing. THN is good stuff though (if not a little Canadian biased :D )

Any good Goalie specific issues? I used to get an older magazine called "In the Crease" or something similar. Had a lot of mechanics and technique articles and drills and such with illustrations. I haven't been able to find it anywhere anymore, wonder if they too went the way of the Dodo.

I know GDI publishes a journal, though it has strong tendencies to 1) incredibly minute technicalities and 2) tire-pumping of their brand, but that's not to say there isn't good material with good minds behind it.

I don't mind THN, but I find most of the articles to be "old news" by the time I read them. With the many sports networks (TSN, SportsNet, Leafs TV, etc.), plus stuff in the newspaper (www.waymoresports.com - Toronto Star online, and others), the articles are mostly ones I have already read about. There really isn't any other options I consider though.

I get The Hockey News for free as a Blackberry app. I've never been so up to date on Hockey til now. It's an app through the app world thing.

I also do enjoy the OMHA magazine I get periodically throughout the hockey season with my daughter being registered in houseleague. Lots of good information on up and coming kids from Ontario, and more features for girls hockey too. The only other one I read is the one that comes with the game lineups for the Windsor Spitfires (CHL magazine or something like that).
