indoor wheel with good grip and durability

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I just started to play roller again and I need wheels with better grip. I am using rink rat hornets 76a with a 72-76-76-80 setup. Looking for a wheel with a combination of grip and durability. I play on a sportscourt. Any help woud be appriciated. Thanks

I am in the same situation what wheels should i get with good grip. Currently i have the mission BSX skate with original wheels and they are just not grippy enough occasionaly i end up doing the splits trying to do a sharp turn

That would make sense, because those are multi-purpose wheels not suited for sportcourt. Since you are in BSX skates, I'm guessing that budget was an issue. I'd recommend the Labeda Gripper wheel for you. X-Soft if you are <170, Soft for 170-230. Great wheel for the money. Not as good as a Revision or Rink Rat, but you won't be disappointed.

Also whats a good wheel for painted concrete?

Painted concrete can be a bit of a pain to pick a good wheel for as it really depends on how well the rink is maintained. Painted concrete rinks are both the grippiest and the most slippery rinks I've ever skated on. In general though I'd try and get a grippy 76a wheel, they seem to hit a good combination of grip and durability (once again depending on how grippy the surface is, also depends on your weight).

PS: If you don't mind me asking, which state are you in?

Well I'm ruling out the dandenong rink as that place has been covered it dust every time I've been there (I don't think it's possible for anything to get grip at that place! Also I hope for your sake it isn't rosebud  ). I think most of the other rinks arn't too bad, I'm about 55kg and 76a held up very well at my local (non-hockey) rink while still providing plenty of grip (hotshots to be exact), I'm now on labeda fuzions and while they provide a little more grip they don't have the same durability as the 76a's did. Hopefully this has helped a bit, if you've got any more questions send me a pm as I don't want to hi-jack this thread any more.
