Vapor XXXX stick extension

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I just bought a couple of Vapor XXXX sticks because they were a good deal. I'm quite tall and always have to put an end plug in my sticks.

My problem is that the Vapor XXXX tapers and the inlet for the extension is too small so my extension won't fit in. Does anyone have a quick solution for this?

I'm assuming I could sand a sr. extension down, but it doesn't sound very fun.

If I remember, I never had a problem with wood extensions for the end of the shaft. The taper begins lower into the shaft near the blade. It shouldn't be a problem putting a normal wood plug/extension.

For some reason the stick feels thin at the top as well. Maybe it's just the rounded edges (I'm used to One90/95). I can't even get the extension started at the current width. I'll try the sandpaper solution from the post below. Do you remember if you were possibly using jr. extensions (I thought about that route as well)?

If you really don't want to go the wood plug route and feel like wasting a couple bucks, this would be a direct fit :

Have you used one of those before? I never had trouble with putting an extension in a Vapor XXX Lite so I didn't know if that would work with an XXXX.

Get a wood file rasp at a hardware store...it's got rough and fine teeth and rounded and flat sides. Invaluable for working on sticks IMO.

Yep, I've used one of those extensions in a Vapor XXXX OPS. Perfect fit.

Thanks everyone. I sanded the extension down and it fit well (kinda lodged it in there so I didn't even need glue).

I may check out a file or the Vapor-specific extension as well.
