any comfortable skates

Recommended Posts

I have had many skates through the years from many different LHS fitting me and baking but dont seem to ever get a comfortable skate something always hurts on my feet.

Had RBK 8k, Bauer x50 ccm vectors, some missions as well

What do people consider the sneaker of skates?

Depends on your foot shape. Nothing works better for me than Missions but my Graf 727s were extremely comfortable, they just kept breaking down once they were broken in.

So far, in the 7-8 pairs I have used in the last year, I would say the CCM U+ Pro are the most comfortable skates I have used...and not to far behind Bauer X60.

where do I get customs ?

a dealer. your LHS should be able to order custom skates of any brand.

I know a lot of people that have found custom skates to be uncomfortable. You have to know what you want changed and what doesn't work for you when you order custom skates.

thanks- anyone have any idea on how much this will run?

Typically 100-150 above retail.

They don't take a mold of your foot or anything, they will just take some measurements so not sure if the fitment will be perfect necessarily.

this year's 9ks are probably the most comfortable skate for me... but its all about your foot. i'd go to a really big hockey shop that carries pretty much every model of skate out there and just start trying on.

It's taken me years of trying out all types and makes of skates and I've found there is usually one make that fits you better than others on the market. For me that skate is an Easton composite skate with CCM a close second because of the similar fit but a wider toe box. I am currently in the Graf 735 for my league hockey games and although it is a very comfortable skate I personally feel I perform better in my Easton 1300's which I use for my pickup games. Personal preference has a lot to do with what feels the best for you. Don't get me wrong, the Grafs are an excellent skate for durablilty and comfort, and I recommend them highly to anyone looking for a good skate but only if that is the fit you like. I agonized for years because Bauer seemed to be the skate of preference for a majority of the players in general and although they are also excellent skates ( they made great strides in improviing their comfort in recent years) but I know I don't skate as well in them as I do with my Eastons. So you can see it's a matter of trial and error in a lot of cases to see what is the best fit for you personally. When you ask a lot of the guys on this forum about what skate is best for you, the answer in a lot of the cases is the one that feels the best, everything else aside. Very wise words.

Grafs no doubt about it. There durable as hell too. Not just that, but there comfortable for A LOT of people. They have a few different foot shaped boots on the go so theres something to fit 95% of everyone. I fit in a 9 series (709, g9) perfectly, they fit me fantastic however a 705 wasnt a great fit. There the kinda skate where you can go barefoot in them and feel great.

Would the 727 and the 707 be for the same foot shape?

i don't think so. i thought the cyber 727's had something to do with players that broke a foot or something. there's something weird about them, but i believe different than the 707

and about what skates to choose for the topic starter. i say graf hands down. i went though a bunch of pairs of skates until i found that grafs worked out the best for me, very comfortable and durable knock on wood, going on 2 years. atleast give them a try at the shop.
