Where do you get your Skate Holders

Recommended Posts

Just wondering where you guys get holdters for your skates. I've been reading and it doesnt' look like a lot of people stick with their stock ones and opt for some customization. My LHS is nothing and I'm wondering if there are any online sites you use?

What would you suggest for a pair of Easton SE10 skates??

Holsters? Do you mean holders? The plastic thing that holds the blade?

If so, you're fine sticking with what you've got. Most people don't switch, and those that do do so because they have a specific preference and know what they want.

I think most go with the stock ones or upgrade ones on the lower end skates. I think some people install heel lifts but that is about it. Is there a reason you feel you need different holders?

Well one of the rivets is coming out by the toe on my right skate, so I'm wondering if I ever get that fixed, should I just get better holders all together. The thing is, I don't know enough about other holders and what they have to offer, to make that decision. So I'm just trying to get some advice.

Technically, I really don't need new ones, but if there are some super fantastic ones that perform miracles, I'd like to know about them lol

Well most people in the NHL/people who have money to blow, will get tuuks almost immediately after they get their skates. tuuks & ls2 steel plus labor will set you back about 100 bucks. Only down side is, unless you ask for them to drill a hole in your skate, every time you'd need to replace steel you'd have to re-rivit the tuuk to get to the steel.

if you want go for it but it really isn't necessary. unless you are crazy over ls2 steel.

A good riveter would put the holes in the boots no questions asked.

Don't go by what NHL guys wear - it is easier for an EQM to carry 1-2 types of holders/steel on the road rather than 3-4.

They all have their positives and negatives. If you have SE10s, the best thing you can do is order STANDARD Easton steel. It doesn't have the Parabolic cut and therefore stays stiffer, and there's no holder sag on the RBIIs.

It sounds like for your purposes it would be most economical to just get the rivet fixed. No Holder is going to perform miracles.

I dunno.. swapping cobras for tuuks was probably the worst decision I ever made. I'd say holders make a massive difference.

I'm an advocate for not swapping out stock holders, stick with the RBIIs.
