Hotel in Boston?

Recommended Posts

I will be driving down to Boston in a couple weeks.

I have to go Harvard on saturday afternoon and I plan on staying downtown Boston the rest of the time.

Ideally I would like to sleep at a place where I can walk to go eat and drink!

Any advices?

Last time I slept at the Boston Park Plaza. Id love to find something cheaper then 200$ a night!

come stay at my house, just return the favor so I can come see a Habs game. haha

anyways, its tough around town to find anything under 200. Here a few choices...

Hyatt Cambridge, right on Memorial Drive (on the charles river). A quick walk into central square (redline) or just cross the bridges and you're on Comm Ave (BU, bars... hot drunk college girls)

Boston Holiday Inn Express, literally 500 yards from the Boston Garden, a little more pricey but right on the Orange Line and a quick 8-10min walk to quincy market (good bar scene, pretty hot BC girls)

you can also check this out:

kind of a hostely kind of thing, but in a beautiful beacon st brownstone, you'll rub shoulders with people who own 9million dollar apartments

I usually just bite the bullet in Boston and stay near Quincy market and I love the Marriott Long Wharf. Legal seafood across the street, The Black Rose is only a couple blocks down the street and the market is just around the corner from there.

Hotels in Boston cost a freakin' fortune. A couple of years ago I was lucky enough to stay at the Boston Harbor Hotel, which is a beautiful place but expensive. The fam' was looking into taking a trip into Boston for a few nights last year and couldn't find anything less than $200 worth staying in.

Peruse the postings at Bidding For Travel, then bid at Priceline. This is totally legit. We used it for six hotels on our east coast trip and booked them at 25% to 45% of Expedia's prices.

I've gotten insane deals via Priceline in Boston, Quincy, Warwick RI and Toronto... My last Priceline bid got me a $260/night studio suite at Residence Inn in Toronto for $80+ fees ($96 total)

The funny thing is the deals can be so good, you feel like you got screwed when you had to pay $6 more....even though it would still be 35% of Expedia's prices!

Looks interesting, but I cant seem to figure out where to go to bid or see deals?

1) Scan the list of hotels that Priceline uses for Boston, then research which one you'd think you'd line to stay at.

2) See if anyone posted whether they won bids at Priceline for that hotel, for what dates and for how much.

3) Go to Priceline and click on the "Name Your Own Price" section for hotels.

4) Keep your options limited, because Priceline only allows you to rebid when you increase at least one parameter (i.e., more geographical regions or more class of hotels). By keeping your options limited, such as "Boston Harbor Front - Acquarium" and 4-Stars, you know you won't be given a 2-Star dump in Natick. However, you also won't get it at $20 a night! But the truth is, you should have an idea what any particular hotel is going for, based on the postings on BiddingForTravel.

5) If you need to rebid, either increase the hotel class by one (to 3.5 stars) or the region by one (maybe Boston Waterfront - Convention Center") and bid a few dollars higher.

6) If you still need to rebid, either increase your hotel class or region and bid higher, or wait another day to bid for higher money (but at the same hotel class or region), since Priceline will not let anyone rebid on the same day without making those increased options. Of course, you can get around that by creating a different account on a different computer.

If you have question, post them here.
