Broken S 17

Recommended Posts

Found one of these in the lockeroom tonight, snapped in two and a lefty(I am a righty). So my question is what should I do first, get the stick back together or put in a new blade. Any info on this topic will be appreciated. Thanks

Where is the break? I've never used stickfix but have heard good things about it, maybe someone else can weigh in. If you need to I'd fix it first then slap the blade on. Really depends on the break though.

The break is right in the middle, the two snapped halfs are the same length.

I can't imagine the resulting stick will be worth the trouble of getting it all fixed up. You'll have to flip the stick to put a blade in it and then it will also have the stick fix zone (for lack of a better term) so who knows where the kick point will end up after all of that.

Considering it's snapped in half, I don't think a blade would work anyway.

The stick fix thing could work, it shortens it a bit and it screws up the flex and weight somewhat. But you would have to stick with the LH.

There's really no way to turn an S17 into a shaft. It's pretty much designed to eliminate that possibility.

kick it out of the way. an s17 broken in the middle is completely useless. my theory is that a broken stick is a freebie if you can salvage it. i would NEVER spend money fixing someone elses broken stick, especially if it was the opposite hand.

however, i have turned a stick with an elliptical taper into a 2 piece, the inside of the shaft isnt as elliptical as the outside, a tapered blade fit in and a small end plug (2" maybe) made it perfectly usable... and i probably could have got another 3/4" out of it but i cut a bit too high.
