Chassis

Recommended Posts

I have a pair of Easton Z-Air Comps, size 8. What would happen if I put a smaller chassis on them then I should. Case in point, say a Red Star Small that's really for skates up to 7 or 71/2. Will I be falling all over, or really off balance?

My previous pair of skates where Bauer T4's. I rooted the frame a while ago and so put a size 8 LaBeda frame on a 9 skate. They were noticably smalller than the last frames when it come to mounting. But the funny thing is the first session I was on them I could notice straight off that I was much more nimble and my turns where tighter at high speeds. It felt so good I was gonna swap my Roller Daddy frames for them, but in the end there wasn't much difference turning wise. I love those Labeda frames, man they were awesome.

Yeah I figured that having a smaller frame would make turns tighter, I was just afraid that they would be too small, and too much boot would be on top of them..meking me go back and forth too much.

NAH! Theres no rocking unless you buy a crapper rocker. It kinda does feel like an ice skate with the length of contact being shorter. note the word "kinda" used. ;)

Suggestion..try the new Hum'er frames...I know it's going the opposite way from what you are looking at....give them two weeks to get used to the feel, then go back and try playing with your older shorter Hi/lo's..trust me you will never go back, at least no one who has given the Hum'ers a fair test has done so yet that I know of....agility is not an issue...grip, acceleration, reduced skating effort levels, and top speed are the gains....

But you have to dremel out your skates....and thats a pain. What is a dremel anyway....like a router?

Like a mini router..with a high speed head with various cutting attachments..the process should not take more than 5 minutes per skate...not a big deal.

Im am becomeing more and more intrigued by the hummer. Is it possible to replace a frame too many times and have too many holes in the outsole. I have vector pros, removed the eblade and had the sensor installed, would there be any issue with installing the hummer, other than the fact that i would have to dremel the outsole a bit to accomodate the wheels.
